Just got back home from the hospital and dad has regressed quite a bit.  His spirits are high and he is ready to get out but looking at him today was very upsetting and hard on me.  He has aged quite a bit in the last two weeks and I am trying to hold it together.  He is still wanting me to make a few bets for him so he has something to watch at night on tv but I am hoping the big guy is not ready for him yet.  Keep the prayers coming he really needs them right now as do my mom and myself.  Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers and I hope he is back on here quickly to post more jokes.

enjoy the time you have with him, I lost my mom a little over 6 months ago and wish I hadn't ever left her. I cherish the last few months of her and spending time with her. Also it will likely be the hardest thing you will ever do, but be there when he passes so he knows you are there and he's not alone. I still cry every day and keep hearing it gets easier, but so far it's not.

They are sending him home today.  I got a phone call from the drs this morning and he took a bad turn for the worse.  He is coming home and hospice is coming in so his last time on this earth are comfortable.

jmchou1, it's amazing how with just a few words here and there (in the middle of a bunch of yammering idiots going back and forth) we were all able to tell what a special, good-hearted guy your Dad is.  Hang in there man, I know your Dad is going to be fine in whatever come's next, so my thoughts and prayers are all with you - hope you can find some peace in all of this.  Try your best to be happy for being blessed with the times you've shared instead of being sad for your loss - it's going to be hard, but he'll be around hang in there.  We love Apache.

Thank you all for your kind words and support. I will keep you updated as time goes on. I really appreciate the prayer goose but still keep asking myself why. I know god has a plan but I was not ready for this to be it. I know it is for my own selfish reasons that I do not want him to go. Damn cancer!  He still is mentally there but the body is shutting down. I keep asking him if he hurts and he says no.  I just hope for his and my family's sake that he doesn't linger on and suffer.   Thank you all again for the prayers and getting enjoyment out of the same jokes I have heard over and over for my 41 years.  God bless you all!

Absolutely... No one should be kept on beyond reason... The problem is the definition of reason... I believe quality of life is paramount...

Prayers to you, your family, and mostly your dad. His kind hearted spirit was refreshing around here, he was an old soul amongst all the madness on this forum. Reflect on the good, take time to find the strength to tell him how great of a dad he was to you and how much you love him. You will find much more peace if you do that, maybe you already have. Fight the good fight.
