Term began with racetrack books.  The money from win. place and show from the first leg was placed on the secnd leg of the bird cage and that money, if there was any, was placed on the third leg. (hence, a "birdcage") It was often utilized when hot jockys had several mounts that day.  A football bet parlaying two teams can be bet as a straight parlay (the first (if) win money goes on the second game)  if you bet a "tease" you get an extra six points for a two game tease.  But they both must beat the spread.  The "tease" is the extra six points.  The most fun is the "two way tease" where you get six points both ways.  Once in a while you hit both ways, a genuine "gambling rush".  These bets are not available with OTB, you need to go local.  Good luck.
