GM makes and sells cars.Apple makes and sells iphones.Why can't a business just make book?

If you are referring to Vegas Casinos, you have it backwards. For the amount of floor space, sports books make less revenue than anything in the casino. Casinos only keep them around to attract men into the casino

In the USA,sports betting is a State-Sanctioned activity and each state allows betting according to their precepts and there is not a Walmart of Wagering.

This is exactly correct.

What you see is not always as it appears. Take the car business for example. You would think that car dealerships make their largest cash by Selling Cars. You would be wrong. Car dealerships make their largest cash in Service and Repair.
