Which is more harmful to the US tax base? Welfare fraud recipients or corporate tax dodgers?

Well, at least they caught these people:

A former health care clinic director and licensed therapist was sentenced in Miami to 111 months in prison today in connection with a health care fraud scheme involving defunct health provider Health Care Solutions Network Inc. (HCSN)

HCSN of Florida (HCSN-FL) operated community mental health centers at three locations. During his employment, Layman worked full time at all HCSN-FL locations in various capacities. According to court documents, Layman was aware that HCSN-FL paid illegal kickbacks to owners and operators of Miami-Dade County Assisted Living Facilities (ALF) in exchange for patient referral information to be used to submit false and fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid. Layman also knew that many of the ALF referral patients were ineligible for PHP services because many patients suffered from mental retardation, dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Theres no need to defend the innocent.

Tax loopholes = legal

Fraud (of any kind) = illegal

 

Not sure why common sense keeps eluding you.

Why should he suddenly develop what has eluded him from the beginning?

You would think as many times as he has been owned, especially in threads he starts that he would be at the least a tiny bit wiser...

But apparently some things are not to be...

i don't follow the fraud of any kind is illegal statement.  if i remember, we just went through the biggest wall street, mortgage lender and banking fiasco perhaps in history.  how many executives were prosecuted and are in jail after unbelievable amounts of money in pension funds and other retirement accounts just disappeared?  if the answer is none, and i think it is, is fraud of all kinds illegal or just fraud committed by people who aren't rich enough to own the people who make and enforce the laws?

Being illegal is one thing....getting punished is another.

sure, but if fraud goes unpunished, it's not really relevant that it's illegal.  and a lot of fraud goes unpunished.  depends on who is committing it. 

through all of the garbage this country has been through with the economy, stock market, banks, housing bubble, etc. i don't think one executive has been prosecuted for fraud related to those issues.  not under bush or obama.  that should give you some idea of whose in charge around here.

The pressure to make more loans to minorities (read: to borrowers with weak credit histories) became relentless. Congress passed the Community Reinvestment Act, empowering regulators to punish banks that failed to "meet the credit needs" of "low-income, minority, and distressed neighborhoods." Lenders responded by loosening their underwriting standards and making increasingly shoddy loans. The two government-chartered mortgage finance firms, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, encouraged this "subprime" lending by authorizing ever more "flexible" criteria by which high-risk borrowers could be qualified for home loans, and then buying up the questionable mortgages that ensued.

Pressure to do the wrong thing goes both ways. You need to put aside your energies of the Church of Club Dirt and focus them on the new US political party : The Common Sense Party of America (henceforth the CSPA)

yeah getty, a lot of people fucked up but that part is just one piece of the puzzle.

take a look at this article from earlier in the week.  this is big time fraud.  deferred prosecution is short for, pay the government a shitload of money and then they will leave you alone and you don't have to worry about going to jail.

of course not.  what i'm saying is laws, constitutions, legal, illegal, that's all semantics in our system.  the government is the ultimate arbiter of what is right and what is wrong and money is the most important factoir.
