An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had
never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire
class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that
no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.
The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class
on Obama's plan". All grades will be averaged and everyone will
receive the same grade so no one will fail and no one will receive an
A.... (substituting grades for dollars - something closer to home and
more readily understood by all).
After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B.
The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied
little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who
studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard
decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little..
The second test average was a D! No one was happy. When the 3rd test
rolled around, the average was an F. As the tests proceeded, the scores
never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in
hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else.
To their great surprise, ALL FAILED and the professor told them that
socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great,
the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the
reward away, no one will try or want to succeed. It could not be any
simpler than that.
Remember, there IS a test coming up. The 2012 elections.
These are possibly the 5 best sentences you'll ever read and all applicable to this experiment:
1. You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity.
2. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving.
3. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.
4. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it!
5. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work
because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other
half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else
is going to get what they work for, that is the beginning of the end of
any nation.

I wish you would join our discussions in the Politics Forum. I agree with everything you posted. You will be called names for these beliefs. I will be called names for adding that. That's OK.
Before joining this website I would have never believed that a website that exists for people to share ideas about making money gambling on sports would include the type of people described in that classroom.

Yeah, they need another copy-and-paste artist in the pol forum because real independent thinking is not allowed.

Well Obama is not a socialist (smear word from the right wing machine). Obama is a social liberalist.
Those who practice social liberalism are usually center left politicians. They believe in business and government both play a role in our society. The best of both worlds.
Pure capitalism and socialism believe in one not the other.

I like you Mikael; you never disappoint. I'll be in Denmark this summer. I'll let your government buy us both a couple of beers.

if u agree with the post then u must vote ron paul
ron paul 2012 - absolute common sense and no bull shit politics
I agree with Ron Paul. The only knock I have against Paul would be foreign policy. I agree with him on no nation building and bringing the troops home from overseas. I'm worried about alliances we have with other countries. A total isolationist policy may make us lose some of our friends. I don't know if it will. It just may.

Both socialism and capitalism have weaknesses and strengths. But the success of any system can be judged by how widespread it is. Socialism and capitalism are found in every country in the world. Out of necessity, socialism is common in schools, military, hospitals, police, utilities and garbage collection. Perhaps, combination of both systems is best for modern society.

isolationism is tariffs, sanctions, restrictive trade deals
non interventionism is leaving other countries the hell alone unless they attack us
you should turn off your television and stop listening to what they say about Dr Paul's foreign policy. we were a non interventionist country until the Federal Reserve and WW1. a deficit of fiat paper currency not implicitly backed by gold has been a century of total war. find me a time from 1913 until present that the US was not bombing some far off country

If socialism doesn't work, please tell me what system will work? Maybe a return to feudalism?
Georgism

Henry George is best known for his argument that the economic rent
of land should be shared equally by the people of a society rather than
being owned privately. George held that people own what they create,
but that things found in nature, most importantly land, belongs equally to all.

Where everything is rationed out equally. All jobs are based on standardized testing to insure maximum productivity of each individual. Reproductive rights are based strictly on genetics. Med Bots determine who is able to work and who is not.

What we need is government by computer...

I remember seeing a republican on fox news say "Not everyone can be a CEO we need people to clean the bathrooms." That's politics for ya. Anything that has a label, title or -ism at the end will never work. Plus blame, religion, and hatred always get in the way of progress. The answer to the worlds problems hasn't been thought of yet.
