A man was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia after a traffic stop in the 10600 block of North Cedarburg Road at 1:25 a.m. April 2. Police asked the man about the strong odor of marijuana in the car and he said his friend, whom he had dropped off, had been smoking the drug. Found in the car were 3.3 grams of marijuana and a pipe with a large amount of burnt residue.
Ugh, I blazing bloodshot eyes, weed odor but you have no probable cause
WOW 3.3 grams?
I toke that in half a day.
Kid should have left his windows up to within a couple inches.
Another example how Cops COERCE people...
"Roll your windows down please"
"No sir, My windows are fine, I can hear you loud and clear"

Casinos are full of losers around here. Especially on weekdays. They give free lobster dinners at a casino down here. I'm not much of a lobster person. If lobster was 2 bucks a pound I would still not buy it. Steak is the way to go if you ask me.
Casino bums probably bitter with same stupid stories of how they got screwed or that bad run that has really affected their life. Will spend rest of their lives blaming some random event of why they are failures. Just let it go. Really.

Guy I know got busted for DUI with a 12 pack of beer in the car with 2 of the beers gone. Cop wrote it up as 5 cans gone in order to support the charges. Busted guy was really angry about the " god damned lying cop ". I asked the guy why he refused the breathalyzer and he told me it was because he was working on his second 12 pack. True story.

Hopefully this goose can get back to his golden ways. The bitterness of cops and big business seems to have his brain all scrambled like morning eggs. Just hoping this covers brother finds a better place today. After all at least save the guy at the blackjack table from listening to a grumpy old bitter person whining about crap while the guy is just trying to win his money back from all the times he's lost.

GG, I agree with you 100% and I will never voluntarily let them search my car at a random traffic stop. As you say, you can ask them "am I being detained?" and unless you are, you can ask to be on your way.
That said, cops can pretty much make up probable cause if they want. And only opening your window a half inch is just going to arouse suspicion.
All it takes is for them to make up that you were swerving or that they thought they smelled alcohol or MJ. It's going to be your word against theirs (how can you prove they didn't smell anything?).
Cops do feast on those who just let them do what they want and don't know their rights. I mean it's perfectly legal for them to lie to you during interrogation....that's all you need to know.
I've always thought that I would absolutely not let them search my car if I was clean. If was dead busted, I probably would just just try to be cooperative. If you're dead to rights, being a pain in the a$$ generally does no good.
FYI, I gave up my rights in VA a long while back. Cop pulled me over for driving on the shoulder. Had an open beer. He did a road sobriety test and said, "you passed, but I'll give you a breathalizer so you can see if you should drive." AND I LET HIM.
I was only .04 and he ignored the open beer. But I could have easily just busted myself if I had been over the limit (I was quite confident I wasn't). It was only beer #4 in about 3 hours. But still, I can't believe what an idiot I was.

If an officer or immigration agent asks to look inside your car, you can refuse to consent to the search. But if police believe your car contains evidence of a crime, your car can be searched without your consent.
And I cop can make up anything re. a potential crime. That's the rub.
