True search...

But we've strayed from the original point-which in my opinion is flawed-
The person pulled over-and subsequently searched- was in violation of the law-
An argument about legality of possession of marijuana is fair game-in a different thread-
This kid was not an "innocent" motorist- police did their job imo

First off, if you're gonna have dope etc in your vehicle, at least have the brains to check/use brake/signal lights. Put on the seat belt, and ffs duh, hears a real kicker, don't speed.

Worst case scenario, you tell that cop your name and address. If they want more info from you, you tell them you would prefer to first speak with a lawyer.

"You have the right to remain silent, whatever you say can and will be used against you in the court of law"

Whats funny is they don't teach you any of this stuff in school as a kid, i wonder why?

Police love fear, intimidation and people that have no idea what their rights are, and or how the courts work.

I opened up a can of Whoop-Azz on those Indians tonight.  Won $1775 in two and a half Blackjack shoes.  And out the door I ran.  Hit-em-and-run.

A better approach is rub your eyes real quick.. hucka up some flem.. blow out real hard thru your nose and let some snot cover you lip as the officer approaches cough uncontrollably and when you roll down your window make sure he sees you wiping snot off your face on your hands then I usually open with the line Officer I just want you to know I have a really bad case of the flu I just picked up from an overseas flight  back from Hong Kong but I have my license right here...as you fumble with you snotty hands for your license pulling it out and handing it to him and if per chance he actually reaches for it cough spew in his face and start apologizing over and over no matter what he asks just keep apologizing..coughing.

The text above written by GG is good advice. I would add one more point. I would also reference the exact case when speaking respectfully to the police. Mapp vs ohio 1961 is the landmark case regarding illegal search and seizure in America, which is the 4th amendment. 
When you are aware of something like this it makes law enforcement consider that you may have a legal background and they are far far less likely to trample on your rights.

Bad idea.  

Officer:  "I'm sorry, sir, but I seem to detect the odor of mary jane coming out of your car.  Could you please step out of the car so we can search it."  


Why be an a$$hole?  kap nails it on the head.  You ask if you are being detained.  

Start using words like "I resent" and they will crawl up your a$$ with a microscope.

you know the funny part of this thread? I would be willing to bet, that some of the people who posted in this thread, would be doing the same exact things, if they were cops.  Having power is a high and cops have that power.

You think they dont watch cop shows and then dont want to go act like the actors on tv do?

yes sir/no sir  if that doesnt work, then i start pulling out cop business cards from my family members,lollllllllllllllllllll

I do miss the good old days thou, when a cop would pull you over for dwi and instead of slapping the cuffs on you, they would just follow you home.

Bottom line is some cops are good guys and others are just power hungry monsters
