He writes that before the shooting, he believed that "generally racism was a thing of the past." But after the national outcry against his son, he says he realized that racism is "flourishing at the insistence of some in the African American Community."
You think ?

I'm as worn out on this story as you are, but good for Mr. Zimm for telling it like it is.

I do not want to get into this again but how about the racism of Z profiling Trayvon that night?
LMAO, are you serious.....The kid had 4 (FOUR) minutes to walk less than the length of a football field and would have been home, but the THUG decided to attack an innocent man.

Yes I am serious. I am not talking about how things ended or the verdict or the fight or Zimmerman's right to shot him. I am talking about Zimmerman originally identifying as a risk from the minute he saw him (i.e. profiling).

I heard Charles Barkley on an interview with Dan Patrick yesterday (I am not sure if it was live or recorded). Ironically, I think that Barkley's comments on the issue were about the most sound that I have heard, and I agree with everything he said. In short he said that he is
- disgusted with black people who want to cry racism when these types of things happen but fail to get up in arms about the fact that 95% of blacks who are murdered are done so by other blacks. He identified this mindset as a major problem for blacks.
- that he agrees with the verdict and that it was an all around unfortunate situation and that he feels bad for martin's family but also for Zimmerman's family because their life has also been altered.
- that Z had no other choice than to do what he did
- but that he completely feels that Trayvon was racially profiled as he originally was walking in the complex. That is it was some white dude than Z probably pays no attention
I agree with all of this. That was the point of post #2. Madshooter I also agree with you in that he attacked him (etc...) I am just talking about the initial thing that raised Z's eyebrows.

Who was committing the great majority of the crime in that neighborhood?? Are you saying that you are totally indifferent to the area you're in and the people around you? Anyone who says that is a liar, fool, or victim.

Of course I am aware of my surroundings. Like you say it is a reality. I am just saying that the point that Zimmerman's dad made about "generally racism was a thing of the past" also speaks to the behavior of his son.

Do you think it was racial profiling or "thug" profiling? There is a difference, you know.

Since Zimmerman did not know Martin's race upon first seeing him (as confirmed by the 911 transcript and Sanford PD) the point is a red herring.

I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the Black community to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of African-Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement, hard work and a self-reliant nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.

if i saw trayvon walking around my neighborhood in the rain in the evening, i'd prob keep an eye on him too, no matter what color
Look 14, you're not really helping. If he's not a racist than he's just a a guy who kills teenagers of all races. Either way your fighting the losing battle here.

Uh no, just NO. He acted in self defense in a crime ridden area against a person trying to kill him and with a blighted past. The case went to trial and despite media overkill, presidential and justice dept involvement, and a corrupt prosecutor and judge, the jury saw right through a case that shouldn't even have gone to trial.

This was never an issue of race. The black community made it up with their delusions of past racial issues that had nothing to do with Zimmerman and Martin. Zero. Zilch.

I have no idea what this is supposed to mean, but let me say: there is, and never was, any evidence George Zimmerman committed any crime.
So the "Justice for Trayvon" thingy was built on a silly, easily deconstructed lie.
