Race 1: 1 - Rally Cry. I think this one is sitting on a career effort today. Should stalk diversify and I like the inside post in this short field.
Race 2: 9 - Married to Anya. Hunch play, as not much to go on if trying to beat the favorite. Ran in some fast races and like that manny Franco takes the ride today with this first time effort. Expecting a much better effort off the break with the class drop and not much to beat in this dumpy field. Intrigued by Paco in the 8 as well..(for sequence inclusion)
Race 3: 4 - Big Handsome. Horse jogged in first turf effort while putting up a blistering time. Could be just scratching the surface with this super talented colt. Javy returns. Have a feeling he is too good for even this salty field and we'll see a stakes entry next.
Race 4: 1 - Awesome Quick. Not by any means a strong play, but a race like this seems worthy of poking at a price. Reckless Humor is clearly the most likely winner, but with the inside post and good tactical speed I think the 1 could sit a favorable trip and if ready to rock off the layoff, he could deliver a nice price in a tricky race.
Race 5: 1a - Army Brat. $825k purchase price off a 4K sire fee for a PA bred. That's insane! When do you ever see that? Both sire and dam showed speed at 6f first out, and prep looks unlikely. Johnny V signed on and this thing has gotta figure to have serious serious ability. For as little as we know about this one, he could end up being the easiest winner on the card.
Back for more picks later today.
GL to all!
