I'm changing it up again today. Instead of avoiding the chalk with my 1st pick, I'm picking who I think actually has the best chance to win. We shall see?

I prefer mid priced horses around to 5-1, especially in exacta wheels where favorite appear to be vulnerable. As I have said, reward must be worth the risk, I very often stay from small fields with heavy favorite except to sometimes look for minus show pools. I have seen too often with these short pried horses, you don't make enough in winnings to offset when they lose. Of course, I really look for horses with what I believe to have a realistic chance to win, but figuring out how to bet them is crucial to any success.

Yeah, but I can tell you a good handicapper, you do need the money management skills or you can get hurt chasing losses. I've seen so many people come and go from site here in the last 5 years. no doubt many gave up or went broke. I never bet too much on one race, I enjoy the game and puzzle of handicapping....

So true, jr. Right when you are ready to pull the trigger on a bet, you start to think am I betting too much or too little or should play it another way. There really is no such thing as a sure thing in horse racing even though it seems to many people I used to speak to at the track that their horse couldn't lose. Of course after the race they seemed to forget how they had thought or had completely disappeared.....

I used to go to the Meadowlands quite often. Now I go maybe once or twice a year. Monmouth every 4 or 5 years. Lots of reasons, but I really lack the time to kill a night there anymore.

Yeah, Mr. H hasn't been here in a little while, I have learned much from him and really I've been handicapping now since the mid 1980s. I enjoy this forum a lot, there's so much nonsense and stupidity in the other forums here. I've probably won a few bets I wouldn't have because I considered other opinions from here (doesn't mean I always agreed). There will be good stuff here whm the triple crown comes around for sure, just a couple of weeks away....

Wifey says I gotta go, but I AM the king of this castle not.
Zuck, I must be nuts, senile or have Alzheimers but the Derby is just another betting race for me. Yes, I'll probably spend a little more time on but a 2-1 or a 20-1 pays the same in any race.
Guess I'm just a Grinch!
