The SPA Opens Tomorrow

Twas the night before Toga when all through the track, 

The horses were stirring, excited racing was back.

Racing forms were being studied in homes with care,

In hopes that trifectas would soon be theirs.

The players were all snuggled in their beds,

With visions of winning Pick 5's in their heads.

Though last season was lost to Covid and no fun was to be had at the track,

We will make up for it this year. We are so glad to be back.

Tonight the horseplayers and jockeys are filled with excitement and awe,

For tomorrow is OPENING DAY ! SEE YOU AT THE SPA!

Race 5 MSW 5.5F...take a look at #5 Outfox who was bred for 3k & sold as a yearling for 27k. She was sold as a 2 year old a couple of months ago for 360k. The new owner is LNL Foxwoods who are winning @ 23%. Billy Mott trains her & #1 jock Junior Alvarado gets the ride. The owners are also racing #7 in this race (Asmussen/Santana). Maybe a 5-7 box is the play

She's been working @ Saratoga with average works. The breeding doesn't tell us much other than her daddy had 1 career race which he won. Mommy won 3 of 34.

ML  is 10-1. The first tote flash may tell us all we need to know.

Race 8 #6 Fauci just ran 7th Sunday @ Monmouth.

Maybe it was the yielding track he didn't like & this small barn sends him right back out there 2 days after he arrived in Saratoga.

Your guess is as good as mine. Wouldn't be surprised if he scratches.

ML is 10-1

Race 10 the morning line is way off #10 Big Georges Kingdm @ 15-1. This guy has been knocking on the door, has bullets in 4 of his last 5 workouts @ Finger Lakes & gets a huge jock upgrade to Javier Castellano. Trainer Ferraro makes the dirt to turf move & that may be reflected in the ML except that his daddy, Animal Kingdom, was 9 for 11 on the grass. Can't wait to see this guy in the paddock/walking ring. 

#8 Clever Fellow will be the chalk for the 4th time for Irad/Brown having finished 2nd 3x in a row.

#12 Ruse makes his 2nd start after a 5 month layoff. He finished 2nd @9-1 in his last after getting bumped around & getting caught by Irad on a 2-1 shot. He came from the same post last time out so that shouldn't be a concern.

If you missed him the 1st time, on Saturday Race 9 #1 Wit goes again for Irad/Pletch/Repole. He won at first asking by 8 & it could have been much more. He looks like a good one.

 Was looking forward to seeing #10 in the finale but I have him in my stable to be notified when he's entered again.

Race 1 we have 4,5,6,7 & 9 all dropping in company.

WOW...Irad kept checking to make sure he didn't bother #8 down the stretch as he was able to nurse #5 Charlie's Archangel to the wire as the chalk. Alive in the double with 469

Tyler was warming up #4 Microbiome going in circles & away from other horses for this 1st timer which I though was a little odd. But he led gate to wire & was never really challenged.

#3 Smile Bryan has cashed a check in 17 of 26 & has just missed in his last 2.

#4 Skyro made a big closing in his last to grab 4th & get Franco to ride this time.

#6 Point Me Buy won at first asking for trainer Kenneally & switches to Tyler who he has used @ Churchill.

#7 So Suave has been away for 10 months but attracts Irad for Clement.

#9 St.Joe Louis was heavily bet in both outings winning his last. I'm a big fan of owner Peter Brant.

#10 Treason won @25-1 for Bill Mott at first asking. We may have missed the wedding for this one.

#3 Smile Brian got the head bob @6-1; #4 with Franco ran a good 3rd but my top pick #9 didn't run a lick.

Didn't realize that trainer Linda Rice has her NY racing license revoked which she is appealing. She's accused of getting inside information regarding which horses were being entered into which races allowing her to place horses in the best race possible. She has #8 here.

No play for me since the race came off the turf but I will mention #3 Evidence Based was claimed from Chad Brown & picks up Javier.  

Race 5 

#3 Lady Scarlet is getting all the early action for Saez/Cox, She was a well bet 2nd in her only try @ CD.

#5 Outfoxed is the one I mentioned yesterday & her cost of 360k. Not much on the tote so far.

#6 is 1st timer from the sneaky good Jerimiah Englehart barn. She has some nice works coming into this race.

#7 has the same owners as #5 for Santana/Asmussen.

#9 Texian is from Shug's barn out of Quality Road

My play..if #3 runs back with a similar race in her only try she will be tough to beat. I'll box 3-5-7-9

Had the wrong one on top as #7 for Asmussen looked real sharp. #3 ran 2nd & #5 Outfoxed ran a real nice 3rd @ 15-1

#5 Kitten By The Sea has been away 7 months but we have Irad/Pletch/Repole. Love the Kitten's Joy breeding. On her toes & ready to run.
