Jockeys…Sofia Vives. Her parents have worked for Mark Casse for a couple of decades. She absolutely loves horses and when she gets on, the athletes understand.
Another jock…Samuel Marin. Years ago, I watched an apprentice try every race. On the lead. Off the pace. I spoke with him when he was injured. One day he was watched the races in the stands at Aqueduct. No one knew who he was. I did. Told him he was a terrific rider. Humbled, he thanked me and said “I pray to God that happens”. Irad Ortiz.
Marin has all the tools. Even more on the grass.
