Looking for info on some of the better websites that have current values and top prospects. Good info in general about the sportcard market. i have been in and out of sportscards since the 1970s. Out for the last 7 years or so due to health issues. i just got back in last year.
Any help would be appreciated, including names of prospects. I will list a few of the ones i bought, in a day or so. i normally buy in 20 to 50 each, depending on the cost. thanks.

I collected a lot in the 80's/early 90's. I gave up when the market was flooded with seemingly dozens of makes of cards. I held onto all my cards (still have a lot from the 60's/70's as well), but the card market is very subjective. I laugh seeing some guy on ebay is trying to get $7000 for a Griffey UD rookie card while it can be had for around $100 anywhere. Hell, I have a few myself.
To answer your question, I know Beckett & PSAcard sites are good for grading cards. I don't know of any discussion sites.

i agree with every word you said. those high prices always made me laugh. looking for a rich grandma purchase at christmas. lol.
if its an investment collectible on ebay, i wont buy it , unless its an auction with a fair number of bidders. i never use buy it now, because it doesnt give you any idea of market value. thanks for your help

Here are 3 players i bought in march 2019. Acuna, with the braves. Jimenez--whitesox, and Robles--Nationals. Acuna and Jimenez had very good years. Robles was fair. I bought around 20 each of these players. I think acuna and jiminez cards will make money. robles will probably be a loser. robles wasnt terrible, but not great either . he hit 17 hrs., batted .255 in 155 games.

If anyone cares to share info on prospects and who think are good buys, it will be appreciated. I will share info on what i think. although i have been out of the card market for about 7 years, due to health issues. i have done fairly well over the years making money with cards. I consider Acuna and Jiminez rookie cards, still a very good buy. they still can be had cheap. i would not invest in robles.
I mainly buy football, basketball , and baseball cards. So, im looking to share info with anyone who is interested. its hard to keep up with all the rookies, impossible for me.
I will be posting more purchases later. Also, a little info on who i am looking at buying now with baseball and the nfl draft coming soon.

been out of town for about 10 days. getting ready for the nfl draft. i will buying most of the qbs, wrs, and rbs in the first 3 rounds. buying 20 to 50 each. rounds 4 to 6, buying 10 to 20 each. once the card companies produce them with the team that drafted them. just a side note. i usually do not buy "rookie cards" that are from high school or college. its been my experience that they do not do as well as cards issued once they play in the nfl.

Just bought Pete Alonso. NL rookie of the year. Hit 53 hrs last year. I bought 10 topps chrome for $2.50 each and 10 topps base for $1.00 each. these are rookie cards from 2019. still fairly cheap, and what i would consider a good long term buy. probably will be holding about 2 years, before selling.

I haven't been involved in baseball cards since I was a kid.... It's funny , a lot of what MUGG said in his post applied to me as well. I was big into it in the mid-to late 80's. I got so into it I bought 3 sets of the 89 Upper Deck that MUGG talked about, also. lol. I was so wrapped up into the future payoff later, the special hologram card to show it was authentic. Lol. I still own them, as well as a lot of card from the 60's, 70s, and 80s. I haven't check a Beckett Monthly in years, but I remember seeing it wasn't worth all that much, particularly the 89 UD.

i understand and agree with what you said. ive been in and out of the card market since the early 1970s. yes im getting old haha. the late 80s and early 90s were rough. it was hard to make money back then. mass production, i would say was the main reason. i used to buy sets but now i just mainly stick with rookie cards. the card market right now appears to be doing fairly well, but i just got back in about a year ago. so, im going slow and being careful

That's interesting to hear the market is doing well. Glad to hear it. I wonder is it mostly older guys like ourselves, or more kids getting into this stuff again. I remember back in the day how popular these card shows were, with great big halls housing tons of these card dealers around the country. Fun times !

its hard to say exactly why its doing well. i think the internet has made buying and selling of most things better. it certainly has made it easier to sell the true values of things. now, we dont really need a price guide. just use ebay, amazon, or many other sites to get an idea of what its worth. and yes, its always been fun.

Sorry I haven't been much help in answering your original question in your thread, but it's fun to reminisce good times !
i think you can learn something from any conversation, so u have helped. it always helps to be reminded about how bad it was during the late 80s. not that i could ever forget that. haha.

Yeah there was definitely hype in the card market in the early 90's with Upper Deck coming out with Golf cards - TIGER WOODS. I must have been spent thousands of dollars busting golf packs throughout the 90's LOL
