The BDI is not a great measure for the stock if you ask me. I used to think it was but DRYS goes inversely sometimes, with it sometimes.

The BDI is just the summation of some shippers pricing views on Capsize..DRYS has more Panamax than Capsize vessels-

Click on Fleet Deployment..you will see that they have 5 Capsize and MANY more pana's..so the better gauge is the BPI, but most people dont understand that so they look at the weighted index versus the pana index.

What moves DRYS is its low float, beta and the fact that people dont like how George handles things business wise. In liklihood because of that fact the stock is probably 50% undervalued based on industry matricies.

 On DRYS, you have to love a stock that has a P/E of 5.83 and earnings of 13 bux in and change per share...

 On unrelated news, I am happy to report that our Neville Chamberlain, Jimmy Carter, reports he has found peace in our time in the Middle East. Would that he and say Greenspan go to whatever island they choose and just shut up.

Yeah based on tangible financial ratios, DRYS is severely undervalued..problem is that the street doesnt like how George does things. I am fine with how he does things and have confidence in my shares and options. Today was a big failure though, sold off all day.

On a different stock, this kind of news is why I hold high hopes for CRDC

Not only does the device save money, it saves lives and the recoup time is dramatically improved. I dont see why this stock doesnt explode...

I would love an NTRI earnings miss or a reason for the stock to drop, it has run from 13 to here in no time..I would love a chance below 15 again..big mistake there by me. Earnings are in two days and I expect a selloff which I will take advantage of.

I dont like CMG on earnings, they are still being treated with kid gloves, I really think the stock is over valued by FIFTY points longer term. I dont care if they are selling gold plated food, a fast food stock trading at 35 forward PE???? Are you kidding? Stock deserves to be at 50-60 or lower..problem is I need longer than Jan 09 to get there, so no go currently on puts, I could be wrong for a year before being right, but you will see that I am right darn it.

  Exactly what is it that he does that they do not like???The P/E is absurd compared to DSX and others.

  I read that release when it came out, and it kind of irritates me in a way, but only in the sense that we know the product is excellent.Now when is it gonna start reflecting that in tis share price?

  Anyhoo, am holding on to it. I own some DSX shares and may add DRYS to them

  I am curious about DAR as it has come up on several screens I have run lately. Gotta look at it, as I think it reports earnings this week.I know nothing about it.

Interesting DRYS news today, buying out Ocean Rig, which I like quite a bit..especially with high oil.

whereismyhat, I have some ideas and others might too. How long are you willing to hold a position?

Vermeer, George has multiple businesses which are similar to DRYS and sometimes it is normal in the Greek culture to intermix things and to have related party transactions..I dont like that either, but it is his culture and how things are done. The market doesnt like it because it cannot see through everything and get a strong idea of the business..it is definately different compared to American businesses. I am OK with how he transacts business even though I dont agree with everything, because in the bottom line I think he is looking out for shareholder value and that is why I am in the stock.

I dont care for Diana at all..you get a nice divi but they are way too conservative in nature and miss out when the getting is good. I prefer to take the risk with DRYS vs ANY of the others.

I imagine some here might think that CROX is a good buy down here..if you had a time horizon I would agree.

I can come up with a few names for you..but at 10 bucks I would think it is worth a gamble.

OK it is rocking today up 6 bucks and change as I write, so it is doing great today that is for sure.Opacity in accounting does make people nervous, especially these days, so it is understandable that people shy away from anything that does not seem pellucid.
 
 DSX is OK, I love dividends, so I am OK with it...I think it has room to move up. But the numbers on DRYS are better...

I am not so sure this would be my choice, rather I was saying some here might like it and it would be ok..

I would keep a price in mind that if it broke I would bail..that depends on you, for me I might put a 10% stop down, so that would be in the 8.50 ballpark.

Vermeer, George is misunderstood..he hasnt done any accounting irregularities..he just doesnt like the churning of wallstreet, nor does he cater to the demands of investment firms..what I like is he is very smart and knows the sector..he has been in shipping for 20 yrs and has a high level education.  I still say anything under 100 is a great price. Ive said this for a long time. This diversification really adds stability to FUTURE EPS and margins..it changes the business model a little, but who cares? I see this as a strong move which makes complete sense.

Time to start watching MBI again..getting hit due to ABI.

Very risky but could have a huge payday if you went out long enough options wise.

Drop down below 7 and I might toss some bucks at it.

What kind of a discount do you get for the employee plan?

Gunners is right..pretty lame of the company to ask employees to invest and give no incentive. Not having broker commissions is stupid, since they are selling treasury shares they own internally, no broker is involved..most firms give a discount for employee purchase, that is a really dumb company if you ask me.
