Advice on staying in Vegas for 30+ days

Does anyone have any experience or advice for staying in Vegas for 30 days or more. I'd like to take the summer off here and take it easy. What are some of the cheaper hotels that might negotiate a decent price? Should I book online in advance or just get there and find a place in person?

I'm not a degen gambler or anything so it's possible I could not go broke and live it up for a while. Any have some advice on stretching out some dollars on living expenses?

Spent close to a month there two years ago during March for the College Basketball Tournaments. I was fortunate to stay at a friends condo while they were visiting friends in Florida, so that saved me a chunk of money. One thing I would suggest is getting a place where you have access to a microwave and refrigerator. I would usually eat breakfast and lunch at the condo and then would go out to a off strip casino for supper or to some of the out of the way restaurants where you can get some good food deals. Stay off the strip if you want to eat cheap.

I budgeted $300 a week for expenses and that was mainly for groceries, eating out and gas. I had my own bankroll that I used for gambling.

I usually studied the daily lines and did other things during the day and mainly gambled in the evening and the majority of that was on the CBB games. I also might take an afternoon and bet the ponies. For the most part I avoided the table games where you can lose a lot of money fast. I did play some 1-2 No Limit Poker a couple days during the week but usually not on the weekends.

I spent most of my time at the off strip casinos. My favorited was the Orleans where there is plenty of good values on food and a movie theatre which is a good diversion from gambling. Also take time to take In the sights especially Red Rock Canyon.

I know for me close to four weeks in Vegas was plenty for me. I usually go out for March Madness for a week every year but just once it was great to be out there for the whole experience

Check out the Vegasmessage board..Getting Around topic/subject.Ask some Q's lots of fellow Canadians there. Details about cheap transportation via the LV bus system and also the free shuttles some props have..Takes time but taxicabs to casinos everyday will eat up $$$$

Get something downtown - lots of great rates to be found ,

thought I saw a documentay once, where these gamblers were living in a house, in bunk beds, cheap, just a place to crash while out & about during the day. Anyone know of it???

Most joints won't let you stay longer than 30 consecutive days. There's a Tax On Transients (T.O.T.) that kicks in after that.

just move to a different place once it's close to 30 days.

Just go to some of the motels in the northend of the strip.They offer monthly,and your on the strip so you can walk or bus up/down.I use to go to every movie that came out because you can get into mischeif you/roll during the afternoons.

Don't forget to check out airbnb and vrbo. Some cheap options and the prices don't go up on weekends.
