The majority are right, the IP is a complete shithole but as you said, you are using it only to sleep and shower, Makes sense, also you cant beat the price to be right in the middle of the strip.

Enjoy your trip, I hope you make a fortune, You deserve it.

Wassup Gimp, first I never understand why there are so many haters in forums. Just cuz your a guy who is trying to save money on a room, doesn't mean you're on a "food stamp" budget. I'm in the same boat, I always try and get the "Toyota" deal. What I mean by that is I dont want to go low end and end up sleeping in the dumps but also do not need to go high end and stay at the Venetian so I can feel good about myself. I want something right in the middle, serviceable, reliable, and of good quality.

If you don't give a shit about your room and IP is giving a good deal, then go for it. That place caters to the college aged crowd lookin for a cheap room. Its not a bad room, but for the samw price I would recommend Bally's, Excal, or PH over IP. I was shocked at the room quality I got at Bally's, especially for the cheap price of like $50.

I stayed at the IP last year for the same reason. I figured money would be better spent drinking/gambling, and I was right. Yes, its ghetto, and if you plan on relaxing in your room then stay away, but for a crash pad in a great location I think you're doing the right thing.

The majority are right, the IP is a complete shithole but as you said, you are using it only to sleep and shower, Makes sense, also you cant beat the price to be right in the middle of the strip.

Enjoy your trip, I hope you make a fortune, You deserve it.

Pay attention before you address me like this.

I was talking to lylettu abot being an alias SAF not gimpy

But since were on the topic...

How do you know I haven't served or am currently serving?

What if I have been awarded a Purple Heart?

Does that make me more worthy than gimp boy?

    Gimp,

Fellow Jarhead here.  The IP is OK if you are just sleeping/crashing.  Definitely low class, but the beds are clean.  For an IP price, check out Harrah's or Excalibur.  However, IP has an ideal middle-strip location.

    Have fun, bro.

I stayed at the IP for second weekend of the Big Dance in March. It's a room with a shower and a bed and a television. When I cam back upstairs after being out all night playing craps and drinking, it really didn't matter what the room looked like, as soon as I hit the bed, I was asleep.

    You'll have fun at IP.

Only thing I didn't like is they don't have enough elevators for the towers, so it takes a while to get to and from your room.

    Good luck!!

I know you did not think that your thread would end up like this, but it did. I will honestily say that I have laugh a lot over some of the response you have received. I just wish you well and hope you enjoy your trip and that you win a few bucks.

This guy bets baseball.  Why would anyone stay at an MGM property that deals a 20 cent line in baseball?  Clearly, his supporters on this page have no idea what it takes to win in Las Vegas.  When I lived there, you could find lines at cheap as 5 cents and I bet, for the bigger player, I could still find a sports book manager who took a 5 cent line, if you bet under five dimes.  Obviously, he is staying at the dump know as the IP and every Strip property in walking distance deals this horrible line.  My take, this guy should stay home until he learns more what Las Vegas is all about.

    This whole thread is silly.

I go to Vegas once a year with college buddies and this upcoming September is our ninth consecutive year going. We're small-time gamblers that dabble in poker, sports-betting, three-card, blackjack, craps, etc. We used to stay downtown at places like the LV Club, Four Queens, Plaza. The last two years we've stayed at the Imperial Palace.

Here's the way we look at it: if we're here and on a budget, why the heck would we spend anything more than cheap on the hotels? Like the OP, we use the room to sleep for 2-4 hours a night, and that's it. I would rather take that extra 50-100 bucks a night and play some games with it. Hell even throwing it into a slot machine is better use of a money than using it for a room. At least you have some chance of a return.

The rooms are average, but I haven't had anything wrong with the two I have been in. The clientele is about the same as you'd find downtown. The singing dealers make for a good time the first night you're there (they get repetative) and the cocktail service is great if you tip. The layout of the casino, particularly the elevators and bathrooms are a little too spread out, but honestly, you cannot beat the location of the place.

PS - if you go there and they still have the Yahtzee games right next to the check-in and near the escelator to the sports book - put $100 in and have yourself a good time. My buddy and I played that, sipping drinks for a few hours and both cashed out after hitting several bonuses a few hundred ahead.

PPS - why are there needs to attack the poster? Grow up, all of you.

I usually stay at high end hotels but I am rethinking this recently. It is not the price of the room but how they ding your ass for everything else. Breakfast for two usually gets to $40 bucks or so and dinners are usually over $100.
At Aria last trip, my wife was hungry so we stopped at the snack bar, fed her and the couple we were with and it was $50. WTF.
That is crazy, round of drinks at the pool with waters was $60. Madness.
Stay at the IP and enjoy, unless you are really a high roller, the casinos will get you now with amenities.
