My Vegas Experience and Comments w/HIGHLIGHTS

So, I made my first trip to Vegas (im 27) this past week, wednesday til this AM. My buddy recently transferred to UNLV after being in and out of college in RI. I stayed at Hooters on Wed and Thurs because it was like 50 bucks a night. I stayed at the Econo Lodge on fri and sat for around 100 avg for those nights. Sunday I just stayed at my buddies cause of an early flight.
 
Here is what I thought. In all honesty, I wasn't BLOWN AWAY. Dont get me wrong, Vegas is great and I certainly didnt see everything, such as any shows or stay in a fancy hotel like the Wynn or Bellagio, but as an overall, I wasn't in amazement, although fairly close. Probably because of the hype ive had on it for 10+ years.
 
Hightlights: (no particular order)
 
-Seeing hookers on the street (I got such a kick out of it)
-Winning a poker tournament at the Venitian on Thursday. 76 people, 150 buck ante, $2500ish win. Felt great.
-Getting mad at my cab driver for taking the worst route ever, and then birating him
-Winning on Blackjack multiple times
-Seeing the insides of the Wynn, Caesars and the Bellagio. So nice inside, esp Wynn and Bellagio.
-The Rio's buffet!!!!
-Hanging out with a Cougar for 6 hours where I couldnt seal the deal...thought I could...
-Watching some homeless or just shitwreck guy who I think was selling coke wearing an Aikman jersey getting nearly handcuffed by the cops. I saw this guy 3 days straight in the same spot (not too far from Stratosphere, but away from the nice section) wearing the SAME AIKMAN jersey.
 
Other tidbits:
 
-I hate those guys who hand you those stupid flyers about buying girls or strippers because they make that smacking noise with the cards
-So many streets you can't cross that you have to go around and up and down just to get to the other side
-The price of food SUCKED! But I expected it
-I regret not seeing a show, but my buddy was broke.
-You really do have to get to a sports book on Sunday by 7:30 or maybe earlier.
-The sports book in Caesars had little to do in props. I didnt like that.
-Clubs are expensive, and not getting into PURE at Caesars do to the wait and my shoes sucked.
 
Still, overall, I had a great time and I'd do it again. Next time Id go out with a few people so that I could stay in one of the nice hotels and not pay millions of dollars to do so.
 
Where have you guys stayed?
Also, when is "off season" so maybe I could go then and stay at the Wynn...

Last time I went I stayed at Caesar's towers, jacuzzi in room, nice. I lived there for a few months years ago and got it out of my system for the most part, it was different for me living there and not just gambling/partying all the time, I didn't dig it as much, traffic sucked, Rio buffett is good shit though

Only time I was there - I stayed for free at the Bellagio.  A couple friends said "hey, we got a room at the bellagio and an extra bed, if you wanna come, that's cool"
 
No such thing as an off season in Vegas
 
My hookup story.....
 
At about 1am I was at Paris playing Pai Gow Poker...the couple I was with found me and told me they were heading to bed.  They leave and I got up and walked to the MGM Grand, was very unimpressed.  I started walking back down the strip and stopped at some lame ass casino that my friends would never go in to.  I sat down at 2am with a guy from Philly, a guy from Jersey, a chick from North Carolina and a chick from somewhere I don't know.
 
All 5 of us had a killer time playing $5 Blackjack, I put down 14 screwdrivers and we talked up the whole night.  The chicks decide to head to bed at 4am.  Jersey guy leaves at 430.  Me & the guy from Philly are playing blackjack still at 5 when Paula, the chick from Carolina comes back.  She sits down & we start chatting, asks me where I'm staying.  Tells me she's staying at Ceasars...this is pretty close to the rest:
 
Me - "Where's your friend?"
 
Paula - "In her room, probably sleeping"
 
Me - "Oh, you two are in different rooms?"
 
Paula - "She's with her boyfriend so I got a 2nd room.  You ever stayed at Ceasars?"
 
Me - "No, my first time in Vegas"
 
Paula - "You've never seen a room in Ceasars?  wow"
 
Me - "Nope"
 
Paula - "Wanna see one?"
 
I ended up drilling her and soaking with her in the hot tub while we had a couple drinks then drilled her again.  I waltzed in to my hotel room around 7 or 8am and my buddy's gf was getting up....she said "whoa, where you been"....I replied "had sex" then I apparently fell over on my bed and passed out in my clothes with shoes on & beads around my neck.  Woke up in the same position like 7 hours later.

Wow, 6 hours with a chick? Man, I probably would've given her the boot after about 2. Next time go to Mandalay Bay. You'd like it there. And if you're into clubs, they have Rumjungle. Great sportsbook there too.

I went to Rum Jungle Kodiak..it was alright, but after not getting into PURE..i was pissed.

I heard that PURE is way overrated. What about that club in Luxor? I forget the name of it, but I heard it's cool.

First time - Rio. Nice rooms, overpriced and too far off the strip.
 
2nd trip - Stardust. For an old run down hotel, this was one of the best stays I've ever had anywhere. The staff was awesome, and I intend to stay at one of their other properties next trip.

I think you are talking about LAX...yes it is supposed to be good.

Red Rock has rooms for $179.00 this Saturday, so I'm thinking of going there (simple drive from LA). Been to Red Rock, but never stayed. It's far off the strip, away from all the hullabaloo, but it has a nice, festive atmosphere.

Of all the resort/casinos, right now TI (nee Treasure Island) is my favorite. Pleasant, intimate atmosphere, little in the way of pompous douchebag "high rollers". Sportsbook, though small, is laid back. There are some nice little restaurants plus the TI Buffet is excellent (fuck, now I'm thinking of the Heath Bar crusted doughnuts, about to short my keyboard from drooling on it). I will admit that I wish there were more, um, hot girls there.

On the subject of girls, I think the Palms has pretty much monopolized the market for attracting the most beautiful girls in their 20s. Unfortunately, they tend to be star fucker types willing to disrobe for C listers.

For MILF types, I'd say Mandalay Bay is the place to go (I've never been to Wynn, though I hear it's the same). I was there over the summer, hanging out by the lazy pool and screwing around in the casinos and noticed alot of eyes trained on me by the late 30/early 40 something set. Sorry, I'm not a MILF hunter. Also, I like the Pai Gow Poker tables at Mandalay Bay because they're secluded from all the rubes wooping and hollering at the blackjack tables. Plus, late at night the tables go to $50 to $100 minimum. I know this may sound elitist, but I've noticed that the people at those tables tend to grate less on my nerves than the $10 players at the TI Pai Gow Poker table.

Excalibur has an odd odor. Plus there's a reason it's only a three star resort. Alot of white trash. I hear there's alot of white trash at Rio (of the 12 or so times I've been to Vegas, I've yet to step in there).

I'm hearing good things about Planet Hollywood (the former Aladdin). This surprises me since I had written off that place. I'll eventually try the place out.

Stratosphere also tends to have alot of white trash and urban turds. The rooms make Super 8 look like the Ritz Carlton. I think a day will come soon as the growth continues up the strip, that someone will buy it out and gut the rooms, and build four star quality rooms in their place.

Holy shit, how much have a written. Something about Vegas just makes me ramble on and on. Vegas is not paradise, and I wouldn't want to live there, but I just like being surrounded by people having a good time.

If you're looking for hookers, stay at the Wild Wild West. They are literally staying in the room next to you.

I agree with you about not being BLOWN AWAY. It's a crazy place that everyone needs to see at least once.

Hey lemonsky, maybe you could find a "gem" of a milf at Mandalay Bay. At least if you're at the pool you get a good look at what you're dealing with.

used to go there 3 or 4 times a year, and im from NY so it was alot of flying.  i had some family out there so sometimes when i stayed with them, it was cheap...but not the same as a hotel.
 
just got back...first week of oct. stayed at flamingo.  nice place...good pool.  right across from ceasers and bellagio, next to BILLS(former was barbery coast) which has Drai's after hours a must hit every trip.  funny thing was i only saw black hookers on that section of the strip.  no asians, no white hookers. no mexican hookers.  it was like their section.  some were pretty hot in a hooker person kind of way too.  they walk right up to you at the bar and ask if you have a room here, if you say yes they say wanna fuck!!!funny thing is these skanks want like 300 to start and go up from there.  a street walker for 300.  you'd think a BJ shouldn't cost more than 50 bucks but think again.
 
as far as the clubs go, ive been there so many times im out of the club scene for now.  i only go there now for the pool and sportbooks/poker tourneys....everything else i can get in AC where im heading out for on thursday.
 
vegas was IMO shomewhere everyone should visit to experience everything the city has to offer in their early to mid 20's.  once you hit 30 and go there its a little different...unless its a bachlor party
