wow biggjohn, please just stop talking.

granted I'll give you this when the UFC first started, it could be considered not a sport, b/c it was just two guys beating the crap out of each other and coming dangerously close to killing one another....watch the first couple of UFCs and they are pretty brutal. But once the new guy in charge (dana white) took over, he cleaned it up and legitimized it. At this point I don't know how anyone can claim that it is not a sport. It might have the most well trained and conditioned athletes out there with well defined rules that now has the participants well being in mind, if you don't consider that criteria for a sport....then I don't know what to tell you.

Though I think your repsonse might be along the lines of, "its still real to me, dammit!"

Gentlemen, please tell me you heard the Criss Angel interview done at the recent UFC fight. The interview was done by one of the UFC reporters. He asked Criss if he wanted to become an Ultimate Fighter and Criss' response was "yes". Then Mr. Angel said: "I'm going to train with Randy (Couture), he's my friend". The reporter said, "Well you do magic". And Criss said and I quote: "Yes. I do magic and that is a sport like UFC". I laughed so hard I puked my XYIENCE protein shake. (I just started my training to become a UFC Fighter and Xyience is the Breakfast of Champions for UFC tough guys. Or so I was told) Does it get any better than that? I think not. When Criss Angel made that remark the interviewer didn't even correct him. Why? Because he believes Magic is a sport!! Just like he believes UFC is. Well he has to believe that he's getting paid by UFC. Hilarious!!! The only way this could get any better is if he fights David Blain. LMFingAO!!!! Ground and Pound Baby! Ground and Pound.

Honestly MMA tough guys, is it me who's crying or you. Never before have I heard so many grown men cry and throw tantrums. "We're a sport!!!  Boo-Hoo! We're legit!! We're a sport!!! We have wrestlers and karate chops!! Whaaaa!! Whaaaa!! We'll make you tapout!! Grow up Peter Pans, Count Chocula's. And stop whining. A gigantic Milwaukee's Light beer can is going to come crashing down on your head. Men should act like men. No matter what, even if boxing fades away into oblivion you will always be boxings little brother. That's a fact. Here's another reason you're not a sport. You couldn't get Michael Buffer for ring announcer so you get his brother Bruce. Hilarious! UFC again: "We want respect!! We're legit! We have a Buffer!! Man up sissies! Go back to the drawing board and get some new MMA terms that fit your sport. Ground and pound is good but this one is better.

It's on now!! You want a shot at the title RiskyFinance? I've already begun my training for the UFC. I'm pretty sure you have heard of my coach, Mr. Miyagi. When I complete my training I'm going to warm up by entering the All-Valley Karate tournament and one I run through the Cobra Kai's I'm gonna run through the UFC!!!

Attention UFC: I have another term you can use for your "sport" (LOL). Ready? Here it is: Bump & Grind! Boomba Baby!! You can thank me later. Back to my training...

Wait. Hold up a minute. I think R. Kelly used that already it. Ok scratch that. I'll be back with another one later. Until then keep grounding and pouding UFCer's!

Reading this whole post, more and more I agree with BiggJohn. While his style may be unorthodox it doesn't mean he is wrong. The word sport is used extremely loosely. Just because you can bet and make money on something doesn't mean it's a sport. Vegas allows you to bet on who will win the Oscar does that mean The Oscar's are a sport as well? There is no doubt that the UFC is popular but a sport? Not so much.

yea not everyone understands grappling and BJJ, if it's above your head then either edumucate yourself so you don't sound so stupid, or just don't watch it.

i do agree that WWE is a fucking cancer and i can only hope that they all follow suit with the murder suicide thing

you are an idiot man.  there are so many different disciplines and styles to fight with it's insane.  one such is jiu jitsu, a deadly style of ground fighting.  i'm sure most of you educated people have heard of it.  it is not even close to mindless fighting.  jiu jitsu is checkers more than chess.   there are literally thousands of moves all which can be quite deadly to someone one and a half times larger than you.  wrestling is a kid's joke.  every wrestler would get his ass handed to him, no matter how much steroids he took.  these mma are trained fighters (yes, real fighters) and live and breathe disciplines that make them by far the most deadly men on the planet hand to hand.  i train jiu jitsu and it's nothing like karate, kung fu or any of that.  it's been proven for thousands of years to be the best fighting style.  we americans just recently found out about it through the gracies.  but i digress, bigjohn, you are truly an idiot.  wrestling is a joke.

I'm sure you guys have figured out that this dumb ass has no clue what the hell he is talking about.  He obviously needs attention because he gets none from no one else unless it's them whipping his ass.   Don't give him the thrill or excitement by responding to his nonsense.   He's already been proven by many and by his own words how much of a stupid fuck he is.

Still trying to legitimize the UFC huh? Amazing. A man sits on top of another man and hits him in the head with his fists, sometimes not even real punches (as you call it "grounding & pounding") and you call it a sport. It is fighting. Get it? Do you understand? Fighting. Not a sport. MuEagles79, to answer your question no I don't believe boxing is a sport. I know it is. So does everybody else. Don't you believe it is? Before the UFC came along all of you were watching boxing (and WWF & WWE too) so don't even try to front. Boxing is a skill. An art form if you will. The object is to out box your opponent not just kick, choke, submit, slap and ground and pound. All you UFC supporters know for fact that if one of your champion "ultimate fighters" were to box a champion boxer, the boxer would win every time. The boxer is skilled. UFC fighters fight in a fenced in "octagon" the boxers a ring. Boxing is a sport the UFC is an event at best. Wickedj is it possible for you to post an intelligent comment on this thread or is swearing for a few sentences the absolute best you can do? For a list of how I ranked the combat sports view the UFC=Lucha Libre post. Until then (chuckle) kepp grounding & pounding UFCer's!!!!

ALRIGHT GROUNDERS AND POUNDERS LISTEN UP:

The UFC and WWE are getting closer and closer by the day. Click on this link and read the article on Mark Cuban. Please pay close attention to Vince McMahon reference in the article. Maybe someone read my original posting on this thread and got on the ball. It's interesting to me that wrestling (WWE) and MMA get the same amount of coverage on the ESPN website.
