Is that just for the Reds or you want us to give them money?
@KeyElement
Your Old Chiefs Head Coach pass away, I am guessing he could of been the Coach when you or Wife were living there,Marty Schottenheimer, #8 on the Wins as an NFL Coach, 77 years of Age.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' rout of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl drew a television audience of 92 million people -- the game's smallest since 2006 -- and a total audience of 96.4 million viewers. That is why they want Big Market Teams in Playoffs, and Championship Games.

I will look to back Zack Davies at certain times this year, especially when no one wants to.
Working with Kyle Hendricks is going to do wonders for his change-up imo. It's all ready a damn good pitch for him. If he adds a couple tweeks to it, it could essentially become another pitch.
Last year, Davies finished with a 2.73 era(21st among starters), and he's still relatively young.
I would tread carefully in backing him with the wind blowing out at Wrigley though. His 1.11 gb/fb ratio is close to average.

Hank Stram was coach when we lived there and produced the first Super Bowl win for K.C. Also a great coach, HOF I believe. A whole bunch of names you wouldn't know from that team are HOF or deserve to be. Len Dawson, Mike Garrett, Otis Taylor, Johnny Robinson. After Joe Willy dumped the Colts in '69, the Chiefs thumped the Vikings in '70 and the merger became complete with the NFC/AFC 2 Championships each.
Bud Grant (great coach) was head coach of the Vikings back then and gave one of the great video clips of all time. The Vikings were expected to thump the Chiefs and got beat 23-9. In the tunnel after the game some idiot reporter that thought the Vikings couldn't possibly lose asked Grant, in all seriousness, "Coach, what happened out there?" Grant looked at him for a good three seconds like the idiot he was and then said, "We ran into a better football team." Then continued down the tunnel leaving the guy dumbstruck. I swear, it was hilarious.
I think the advertisers saw the low ratings coming and didn't venture the big money ads for that reason, but, I don't think it was market size that mattered, it never does for the Stupid Bowl. The pandemic and an overall sh**ty year for everyone had exactly noone excited. Even the half time show was cheesy. Just not a good year for sports overall and they are all taking their lumps.

@barneybeans You may very well be right, Barney. At any rate it is a two team race in the NL West and who knows who goes down for an extended period. I would make one bet with anyone right now; the Padres will be a better money maker over the course of the season than the Dodgers. Folks will jump on the Dodgers no matter the cost and they may 62% of their games and not make their backers any money at all. They certainly will be a favorite of those guys that like to post a W/L record with no RoR or recap of money of any kind.
Beginning of last season I had no idea SD was going to make a run.
I lumped them into the "every season there is a mediocre team (i.e., PIT, MIL, SD...) that just kicks in about 5-10 games into the season, winning say 15 of 20 - then they go back to mediocre" - during that run they are mostly dogs, winning their backers a tidy sum. (https://www.covers.com/forum/mlb-betting-27/anyone-quothave-a-feelopinionquot-for-the-rockispadres-game-103437510/#post-128435233)
But their numbers were great and they looked like a contender early on. Pitching came around, they already had Paddack, and then Lamet eventually overtook Paddack and became their ace. Hitting didn't need to get better - it was always great.
I am slightly biased being a SD fan but think I can put my emotions to the side more than the average homer. I just hope the market doesn't get away too soon and then every game is a premium price.

The NL Central is rather bland, at least it looks like it early on. I may tail Barney's Padres futures, not only are they "loaded", they're loaded in all the right places. At the same time, I don't want to be laying -160 to -180 on them at random times during the season. I'd be fine with tying up a few bucks on them and wait it out.
Exactly Sac, that's what I'm going to do, ride out the futures -except- early on in the season take single games, before the cat's out of the bag and they start laying the big numbers.
Lastly I think Snell has his work cut out for him replacing Lamet/Paddack as the ace on this squad. Although he'll be 1 or 2 in the rotation. I'm not that big on Snell anymore, serious. Also I hope Snell gets the run support which bailed out many a SD pitcher last season, pen or starter. But Snell can rub some guys the wrong way.
Which leads me to: I am not saying players will tank a game because they don't like that day's starter. Every player plays hard for their team and for their own personal stats. But some pitchers just get better run support, it may have to do with something subconscious.
Hosmer on first that kid Cronenworth on 2nd?

@barneybeans How dare you post highlights of a 12 inch softball game on a mlb forum?
I think the ball boy gotta call from Tom Brady to deflate those balls. Lamet had 9 SO and 2 ER over 5 that game. That obviously didn't make the end cut.
I knew that home run derby clip would raise just about every eyebrow. Logcottage, where are you?

First 5 Star laugher of the year, but, JEG will no doubt get jealous and start posting things honestly that may get a 6 Star rating. All he has to do is speak what he really believes to be true and you are doomed.
