Units: *40U Pirogues Full Of Money
Note: This is normally a *25U play but I am increasing wager. I will grade/track this as a *40U play (68.8U wagered to win 40U). This is simply my money management approach to my system.
The Cards will come into this game after dropping the first game 2-0 to the Reds. Their lineup went ice cold accumulating only 2 hits. They are now 1-3 @ home to start the year and have scored 4,1,4,0 (avg 2.25 R/gm), but it hasn't been because of the pitching staff. The starters have a 1.78 ERA thus far this year and lack of hitting and defensive blunders have plagued this team to start the year. However, Saturday it should all come together. They have clear advantages every where.
Pitching - Bronson Arroyo gets the nod for the Reds and we have not heard that name for sometime. The 40 year old (yes 40) will enter his 16th season and if not for the reds rotation injuries I don't see why this man would be pitching. He was a serviceable pitcher for many years but he is not ready to navigate this loaded cards lineup! Last time he faced Cards in STL he gave up 5 ER. There is no reason to think he won't get touched up before exited this game.
Michael Wacha on the flip side struggled LY but he has still been solid for the Cards. He was 7-7 with a 5.09 ERA LY but his 3yr splits are impressive. He is 29-20 with 3.88 ERA w/daytime ERA of 3.32 and a record of 14-7. Moreover, he is a fast starter posting a solid 2.65 ERA and and 8-3 record overall. If those stats don't wet your appetite maybe the fact that the L3 years he is a cool 6-1 with a 2.53 ERA vs Cincy. Look for the Cards to get rolling behind Wacha.
Absolutely tremendous spot to fade an aging pitcher and back a team looking to get off the ground to start the season.
