Hopefully you learned a little something - this has happened to all of us at some point. You wake up, see a line that just looks completely ridiculous, react to it, and then find out later that it was completely justified. Oddsmakers aren't stupid and they aren't in the business of losing money. So if at first it looks like they made a mistake, look again, and then look a 3rd and 4th time before pulling the trigger on anything.

this thread has gotten a little ridiculous. he explained his reasoning and said at first he wasn't even going to play it. hardly from announcing a lock of the year or anything like that. from the sounds of it, it wasn't even a big bet. we must all have never lost a bet in here. guys announcing they hit a 4k parlay off a 99 dollar bet. get real. get 'em next time, key
No team is as good as it looks when winning nor are they as bad as they look when losing

Good morning everyone - I hit a decent bet yesterday posting my opinion that yesterday's game would easily go over 15.5. A few of my gambling friends did the HR prop for many players and hit even though the odds that one would normally see for HR hitters was incredibly low for this game yesterday.
This morning we wake up to 20.5 as the number being set for the total.
So has the book/Vegas new number the right one. Yesterday's game ended at 27 i think. We saw how indeed fly balls were home runs, how deep outfield drives carried to the wall and quickly so one would think this might continue today.
The pitchers: Alex Cobb and Yu Darvish - i think these two are a bit better than yesterday's because these two have more movement on their balls. Yesterday's pitchers were really misguided in trying to throw fast balls by the hitters. It didn't work but both Musgrove and Manaeea yesterday do that. I think Cobb and Darvish throw more of a mix and we might see them perform better today.
Having said that I think 20.5 is a more realistic number than yesterday's 15.5.
I am uncertain what to do at the moment. Willing to listen to comments.
Good luck gringos and hombres

In my view, the original post was somewhat ridiculous. He didn't spend any time capping the game before making a "substantial play" - otherwise he would've known why the totals line was set so high. His only original reasoning for making a "substantial play" was that he thought his book got the line wrong. In fact, he was doubtful they were even going to pay out any of the bets because he was so sure they got it wrong. Then, he said "If they keep it up there and have to pay on the over, I am done with gambling. There is no explanation for that line." Obviously there was a logical and rational explanation for the line. Then, when he got called out a little bit for clearly not doing his due diligence, he tried to come up with reasons to justify his "substantial play".
God is great, beer is good, and people are crazy.
