Let me just say this and then i am going to " Hit The Hay "
I have always felt the Yankees have had an edge with the amount of money they pay their players.
But i have always felt team chemistry is a huge factor. One team can have all kind of talent and no chemistry and do nothing on the field. Another team can have mediocre talent with good team chemistry and play very good ball.
Winning builds team chemistry and losing tears it down.

Yes and the Yankees did that while bring up 3-4 HOF players at the same time in their system.
They will never happen again. They got extremely lucky for Jeter, Mariano, Posada, Pettitte to all come up at the same time. Not to mention Bernie Williams.
Hahahahahaah so the Yankees were lucky and the Orioles are just Brilliant... you guys are insane

The losing has taken a toll on the players and franchise. It will continue till they break out of it.

Hows that an excuse. Any franchise would be extremely lucky to produce 3/4 HOF caliber players like the Yankees did. That doesnt happen. The Yankees won the lottery and they were able to keep those players. Because of that they had the success they had in the 90s.

However...I can say it time and time again...Cano, Hughes and Gardner are just the recent group of young guys that have performed when called upon from the farm system.
I was yelling in general to my thoughts of yankee fans...no hard feelings
Cano, Hughes and Gardner are all having a great season....our young crop have put together great seasons too....i guess the difference are the reenforcements....

You call the Yankees scouting and development lucky in the 90's yet they win 3 WS..... Since than they have developed Cano and others... keep dreaming pero

that is one good trade....i am at work right now or i would go research all the yankee trades the past few years and compare them to the orioles brilliant trades since mcphail....e.g. bedard for jones, sherril, bell...the list goes on.......where is X Nady at right now?
Well that's not fair. He was doing his job until he got hurt. That's just unlucky...nothing you can do there. But it's not like Ohlendorf, Tabata or McCutchen (Daniel) have done anything special.
And here are just a few trades from last season for the Yanks...
RHP Casey Erickson and C/OF Eric Fryer to the Pirates for OF/3B Eric Hinske (So far it hasn't affected the Yankees by trading away those guys while Hinske played a nice role for the Yanks off the bench).
C Chase Weems to the Reds for INF Jerry Hairston Jr (The Yankees don't need any more catchers in their system and Weems hasn't been worth a bag of balls for the Reds' minor league system. Not a "huge" move that the Yankees are known for. But if everyone complains about how they make so many big moves...how could you be against this one when he's started a few games and was a nice late inning pinch runner in the postseason. Also...he provided depth at every position and was even the emergency catcher.)
Cash for Chad Gaudin (Didn't do anything in the playoffs aside from 1 inning of no hit ball against the Angels...but the Yankees didn't lose a start he made when they were cutting down Joba's inning limits. So it turned out to be a great move).
Not big moves...but ones that helped them and not hurt them.

No they were lucky to produce 3/4 players who came up at the same time and were HOF caliber.
They also had Bernie come up with them. Go through history and every franchise.... I would almost guarentee that it has never happened before that a team produced 4 HOF players at the same time in the minor league system. And if it has happened it is such a rarity and no something you should expect.
Meaning that when Jeter, Mariano, Andy, Posado decide to retire that you should not expect 4 more HOF caliber players to just show up for the Yankees by coming up through their farm system.

Yep, even Huff was quoted as saying after he went to the Giants...." I am glad to get out of that division. It was tearing me down mentally." He said all his years playing for Tampa Bay and Baltimore he was tired of it always being New York and Boston all the time.
Every time the Orioles go on a little roll i think maybe they will start feeling better about themselves and build some " winning chemistry ". Maybe now ? Not talking about playoffs. But just playing better ball. The bats have finally woken up.

I'm still laughing at JJ's comment about the 90 's
you guys won all your rings at the end of the decade when things began to change for the orioles (all the veterans left, ripken decline began, etc)....my main point was that we were competitive and went wire to wire with you guys (i.e. we were good)...there were plenty of seasons when we were better than you guys....shit we were better than you guys the year you guys won it all but thanks to jeffery maier you knocked us out.....to say that i am being petty blaming it on a fan is bs or they would not have made what happened automatic out nowadays....

Cano has put up INCREDIBLE numbers over his relatively short career. It's obviously too early to deem him a "future hall of famer" but right now...he's certainly one of the best. And he's clutch.
NOBODY will ever replace Mariano...that's IS the biggest concern the Yankees have when these guys are done. But the decision to fix that will come when it does. Andy's ability to pitch in the big game may not be able to be replaced...but hey...if he retires in the offseason...Lee will do a good job in taking his spot. Beacuse they can do that.
Posada isn't a great defensive catcher. So...IF Montero lives up to his hype...than we have found a replacement over the years. If not...the Yankees have 2-3 other catchers to try out and replace Posada.
Nobody will be able to take over Jeter's clutch ability. Especially at shortstop where a star is rare...especially a captain. But as time moves on...they'll have another player to fill in that role.
You say that the Yankees will come down to earth when these guys retire...but you also say they can spend all the money they want. And replacements can be found. They may not be equal...or they may be better...however it goes...they can be found.

Others stupidity brings out the kid in me ... i;m a kid because I'm laughing at your 90's comment? You made a statement that lacked all merit and proceed to call others unintelligent... You know what they say about hypocrites?

I don't like how you say the Yankees' only go out and buy other people's talent. Of course they do that...but it's been proven time and time over the course of the last 16 years that they've been able to fill holes by using their farm system. But you downgrade it by saying that only they can keep those players and you basically make them out to be just some more free agents the Yankees stole from other teams when it's players/all-stars that THEY had in THEIR farm system. You NEVER give credit to the Yankees and the players they DO develop.

I dont expect Jones to hit .300 every single month and his OBP will never be great bcasue it depends too much on his BA, he doesnt walk a whole lot. But he should put up some decent power #s the rest of the way and end up with a close to 750- .800 OPS

Adam Jones numbers for June
.305 BA/.340 OBP/.898 OPS
7 HR and 18 RBIs to go along with 15 Runs
He has been trending up since the first month....
May: .279/.303/.678 April: .223/.245/.633

It does stink for the Yankees that there four best players ( besides Cano ) are getting old at the same time.
Core Four getting old
Gardner is the 10th in average this season.
CC is back on track.
Tex is slumping but is on a 12-game hitting streak (pretty much 13 hits in his last 12 games or something like that but it's better than 2 for his last 20).
Like you said...Cano.
A-Rod still has to pass Bonds' home run record so he's got a way to go.
Granderson will be there for a while. But he hasn't put up impressive numbers.
And Crawford may be right on the horizon.
And when it's all said and done...there will be another "Crawford" out there or another "Cano" to come up through the system or another "CC Sabathia" to add to the rotation. Which is why it's hard to think that even when the "Core 4" retire...the Yanks will faulter.

Mariano is planning on going with a "Pettitte Like" year to year contract until he's done. Posada has another year after this season. Jeter still has a good 5+ years left. Maybe a great 3+ years.
