The Lore of LV Truck and the Gambling Devil:
Early yesterday morning, after a night of gambling, drinking, some more gambling, and a dash of debauchery, LV Truck ambled home.
Before he went to bed, LV decided to sit on his veranda, on his chaise lounge, next to his in-ground pool to get some fresh air.
Just before dozing off, with a slight smile on his lips, a sudden bright light flashed and a wave shot up in the air.
For before him stood the Gambling Devil.
And he said, “LV, I’ve come before you, to give you my pick. I have good news and bad news,” the Gambling Devil professed. “The good news is the bet will be the Oakland Athletics.”
At first, LV, rubbed his eyes, and thought he was dreaming. But, alas, LV thought, I’ve picked dogs before, so this will be good.
And then LV stated, with by now, wide-eyed wonder, “What is the bad news?”
The Gambling Devil proclaimed with a devilish grin, “The bad news is the Orioles will score eight.”
LV’s heart sank, for he knew the A’s have only scored nine or more a handful of times.
Said LV, “Let me go do some research.”
So to the cabana he found his best Pappy Van Winkle, and gave himself a pour. “Neat,” said LV, “is the best research I have.”
And back he confronted the fierce Gambling Devil, “And if you'd care to take a dare I'll make a bet with you.”
“But sit down in that chair right there and let me show you how it's done."
"Fire on the Mountain run, boys, run!”
Later that day, after his morning slumber, The Oakland Athletics brought out the lumber. They kept coming to the plate and put a beat-down on the Orioles, 19-8.
It was then,
The Gambling Devil bowed his head because he knew that he'd been beat.
For that was the day gamblers o’er the land were awestruck, at the legend of a man, they call LV Truck.
