I've been quite fortunate in this series, getting away from playing a live dog (at least on friday), and sticking with the NYY TT and the first half under. that last game could have went either way, i had the game somewhat close to a pick'em, and it played out that like that. if the same game game is played tonight, lopez likely turns the DP, and Wilson likely keeps the 2nd run from scoring. It's also unlikely that Lowe allows 2 runs. The mariners will lose games just like that, they've done it all season long . . .they are a team that needs to play solid baseball in nearly every facet of the game in order to beat the better teams, and they have done exactly that for much of the season.
On paper at least, it appears the Mariners have a pitching advantage today. we'll see . . . their offense is still very suspect, but all those lefty bats get to face a righty tonight.
I haven't seen much of Mitre, but in looking at the stats, he appeared to have excelled at AAA when he started to eliminate all those dreaded walks. in the majors, his walk-k ratio has always been less than 2.0, then he improved to 7.0 in AAA this season, and with the yankees he's back to his old tricks of 2.5, but it's worth pointing out that his BABPIP has been .405, which is not sustainable, but he has been above the mlb average for his career.
i think it's reasonable to project mitre to be better tonight than he has been thus far with the yankees, the question is . . .is he worth -125 ?
i mentioned it last night, i say it again tonight, the mariners have been left for dead many times this season, and they have always responded and rebounded. but i will say, i'm not sure +125 is enough to entice me into backing them to rebound tonight.
