Just kidding about the head shaving part, but I did shave for the first time in several days this morning which means the losing stops today.

I looked over some things on my spreadsheet and I am confident today will be start of a nice run. Any 4-unit plays for the short term will be very selective but I have isolated some factors that should help the other plays take off.

Last thing, I am dedicating today's picks to ...

1) My golden retriever who died two weeks ago. He was 9 and I still miss him like hell so here's to you Nugget!

2) abaum87, who apparently has hit some really hard times. I've hit a financial bottom before but nothing like this guy so I wish him the best. Pick yourself up man, you can do it. All the decent guys in here are rooting for you!

abaum, should you be betting if you are in that much of a financial crunch? Hate to see someone get in a bad way by gambling.

Marquis has a 5.73 XERA at home this year and with the wind and all that, that's a recipe for disaster. Cain is solid, both at home and away, so you know what you're getting. Cubs offense has lost some luster recently, imo, and Giants offense is semi comparable -- 102% of league average compared to Cubs 117% of league average. Cubs offense has been as high as 140% in the past for me before so it has fallen quite a bit, the Soriano absence having at least something to do with this.
