Isn't that how those things usually work out? A ceremony to retire a player's number, or to honor a championship team, or in this case, a ceremony to honor a beloved announcer, ends with the home team laying a huge egg? Just think of how much the team's usual gameday preparations are thrown off by having a bunch of past greats hanging out in the clubhouse all day, along with additional media to cover the hoopla. And then, as a current player, you have to go out and perform knowing the greats of the past are in the stands watching. I can see why home teams in this situation usually unravel.
Those are a long ways away, but I still like all four bets. Well, the Braves are up in the air, I guess.

It can be a subconscious thing, tep. For example, some Phillies players might have walked around the clubhouse today talking to teammates about the fact that the Marlins are still a dangerous team despite the follies in Washington this week. They can say it to each other all they want, but what sticks in everyone's minds is "these are the guys that got swept by the sorry Nationals" and "these are the guys we swept three weeks ago." You just naturally lose some respect for your opponent and it's tough to psyche yourself back up until that opponent shows you otherwise.
