Comparing Zito when he was with the A's to Zito now is one of the dumber comments I have seen in awhile. I suspect most of those AB's were from the Oakland days
Some are from when he was with Oakland and some from San Francisco.
SF days:
Fielder 3 for 18 with 5 strikeouts
Laird 3 for 15 with 4 strikeouts...better hitter now than in his past.
Jackson 0 for 2 with a walk. (small sample size)
Infante 3 for 20 with 4 strikeouts

He will do good enough to get a win. I like his concentration right now and he has no panic. If he gets lit up early theywill just take him out.
And you don't like Verlander's concentration right now? The do is on fire. And yeah Verlander gave up 6 earned in 5 innings in his first World Series start...but he has that under his belt now and that won't be an issue nor a factor tonight....he is in a whole different zone and mind set.

Ehh, I think the Cardinals have a better line up in the playoffs than New York 10 fold. New york always chokes in the playoffs. Verlanders cool, but more pressure is on him on the road. Thats no good.

I really like the Giants as a hole team and the momentum they are going to carry into this game. They know they can win and they know they have to win this game 1 at home to get the party started in SF.

You mean as a "whole" team.

So, there is zero pressure on the Giants tonight? I mean come on...the Tigers haven't lost at home in the playoffs this year. Same thing is going to happen as in the NLCS but this time Verlander closes you guys out at home in Game 5...something the Cardinals and Reds couldn't do.

Game 2: Fister versus Bumgarner.

I have no beef with you at all EastOakland. I would like the Giants chances actually better in Game 2 if they would have started Vogelsong on short rest. The Tigers team is completely at Comerica Park.

seriously, who cares D.Young play LF or RF? playing outfield will affect his bat. LF of AT&T is hard to play, yet RF will consist a lot of throwing, with the way D.Young fielding, any single down the RF line could be stretch into double, and double stretch into triple.
and of course, you could sneak it past 2B into the gap between CF and RF and there will be some shit and giggles because of his fielding attributes.
anyway, that's the story that could happen only if giants able to HIT verlander.
yet again, verlander could cost his team chances to make rally. no DH spot means taking away avisail out of the lineup, and you must know how many precious single have avisail delivers, and avisail hit on the 8 spot, with laird hitting behind him. NOW, Laird have to hit on the 8 spot, which he ain't good because now he doesnt have avisail wrecking on the bases and he know that JV have to hit next. then again, this problem will only happen IF the top of the order is struggling which represented by their numbers off Zito, and you have to make sure DY bat as efficient as he occupied DH and not outfield position.
i lean giants but going with NO play because i hate going against Verlander especially since he's one of the reason why this isn't Bay Area WS..

I swear anyone who on the Giants today are getting bash by Detroit tards in every thread.
I'm not trying to bash anyone. I'm a 26 year old die hard Tigers fan...and baseball is my favorite sport. Everyone was looking at next season when they lost Victor Martinez and now they made the World Series against all odds and aren't really getting any credit because of the division they play in, etc. Yankees and A's just aren't good...whatever the reason may be. I'm done wagering on baseball for the season. I don't lay -170 juice in baseball. I have been screwed too many times for runline wagers. Anyways, I think the Tigers win tonight but not playing the game. I think the Giants would have a solid chance at taking Game 2 if they started Vogelsong. Like I said...not trying to bash anyone just providing points on what I know about a team I follow on a daily basis is all.

this game smells as if only action junkies need be playing. We've got an ACE versus a team that just put up 9 runs, playing in a ball park that sounds like a NFL stadium.
I've read great arguments for both sides here, which would make me feel as if a side is the only play. However, I played the under in game 7 and SF put up 9.
If I had to choose I'd choose the under again, as I don't see Verlander giving up many runs and its hard to believe that the Tigers after 6 days will have their bats red hot. However, i'm eyeing sunday NFL and think there are much better things to gamble on then Game 1.

its kinda BS if people disrepecting Tigers. They earned it, they built their team for postseason, to get rings.
after all, their team is made for postseason, A's is better baseball team in regular season but not postseason, and collectively their chemistry might be the best of baseball in 2012 (tough luck with coco basket catch tho + Cook WP an inning after), Yankees is just shit with lots of their own problem and Orioles is only 1 JJ save away from knocking them out.. nevertheless, O's also have their bats went cold in wrong time.

Say what you want about Coco...Valverde blew Game 4...they equaled each other out. I doubt Valverde will pitch for the rest of the postseason. Tigers had a WP the inning before where Cespedes scored in Game 2. You can't play the would coulda shoulda game. That is like saying the Rangers should have won the AL West but didn't. The Giants were a lot like the Tigers in the regular season....43-43 at one point I believe. The Tigers have the better starting pitching...Giants have the better bullpen. If Verlander sets the tone in game 1...look out because the other pitchers as in Fister, Sanchez, and Scherzer all feed off of each other. What you said is true...Tigers are built for the postseason. I don't care what anyone says about the A's and Yankees. The Tigers only scored 13 runs more than Oakland did in the regular season. The Tigers have built strong powerful arms for the starting rotation so come postseason it will be tough for the opponent to hit. If Verlander sets the tone in Game 1....Fister will be feeding off of him in Game 2 and trying to match what Verlaner does and teams put up goose eegs.

Does anyone know how flight affects pitchers? Verlander could not travel until Game 7 was over since he won't know his destination before then. Zito has the rest advantage for this game. Thoughts?
