I bet $1700 to win $2600 on the Astros to win the WS while they were in the ALCS. I thought this would be a cake walk against Nats so I didn't hedge the bet and now I'm freaking out. Nationals are now -286 to win the series. How can I hedge to make sure I don't lose money? Do I wait until Nationals have 3 wins then bet on the next Nationals game? Thanks,Pete
There is a 80% chance of a team up 2-0 of winning the series.
It is a stat...it is not a guarantee but it's better than nothing.
Hedging Wash to win series at 5k will get you a break even covering the 1700 loss. 80% chance of breakeven.
if you win the Houston bet you are out 5k-2600 or lose 2400(or 700 more than your original bet) and 20% chance of that.
So..80% chance of BE or 20% chance of 2400 loss...

and, now you are back in the game...........NO hedge
Thanks all for convincing me not to do something stupid! Really appreciated the feedback on this forum. I think if I bet 2,130 on Nats to win series now at -125, I'd either break even if Nats win or win $470 if Astros win. Wondering if that's the way to go now. Thanks!

Hmm...zero percent chance of loss and possibility of a win..
Keep getting in situations like that and you own the sportsbook...

any advice please? is that the right move to do? thanks!
Its clear you do not want to lose the 1700,your chance of winning was before series started, now you should take your out, like Quan said even or win,not a terrible place from where you were,if Wash.wins game 4 your done with hedgeing,if Houston wins tonight you have a series,so just get out now while you can.

Hedge out immediately!!! You were in a state of shock and crying over losing 1.7k. Now you are in the perfect opportunity to not only break even but make small.profit. do it!!!! What do you think it more likely? One team winning 4 of 5 games or another winning 2 of potentially 5? No brainers here.

I have the Astros for the series too but I see Scherzer and the Nats beating Cole yet again tonight. This will force the Astros to beat Strasburg in H town in game 6...drama.
