How you bet on a game without knowing the starting lineup?

Question

Everyone is locking in games before even knowing the starting lineup. This is a HUGE disadvantage for me when it comes to betting. I would never bet on any sport without knowing who will be starting the game. Is there any insight to locking in a game this early in the day, besides odds moving?

I have seen a lot of people on the Red Sox over tonight. Well, Ellsbury is not starting so that certainly is a huge blow to that bet.

Wouldn't you like to know who will be playing first before putting money on a game?

Granderson and ARod sat vs Milwaukee and the Yanks still won yesterday.

Pirates bunch of scrub backups scored 7 in game 1 and 6 in game 3 against Toronto.

Lineup isn't of as much importance, IMO, than some people make it out to be.

People are locking in bets at 10 AM.  Lineups don&#x27;t come out until WAY after that.  There is really not a good answer for my question.It&#x27;s like buying a stock without knowing a key part of the company first.

For me it&#x27;s a time issue,I&#x27;m a busy west coast guy,out the door at 7:30 and home around 6:00,most east coast games are done by the time I get home.Agree with weeble as well,some nights the regulars just don&#x27;t give a fuck,the call-ups do.

The other day, i locked in the whitesox against the Rockies before the lineups were out.

Then i checked in during the game, the White sox were down 3-0 and i got even angrier when i saw Quentin and Konerko wetr not in the lineup.

Had i known they were not playing, i definitly would have played the Rox instead.

Well, Whitesox ended up winning.

So not knowing the lineup was an advantage

I have yet to see a good reason to bet without knowing the lineups.The only good reason I can think of for betting it the night before is to try to get maximum value like you really think the book has put a bad line on it.

basically just Go against what logically is smart to bet. If a teams best players are out but they are still a good team - bet them. Awesome idea - i mean who cares about value

Lineups are as random as sportsbetting. You never know who&#x27;s going to hit and come through for the team! Maybe the person replacing Ellsbury hits 2 home runs today! It can happen!!

lines are not set based on starting lineups.  Lines are set for the starting pitchers and teams basic lineup - Knowing the lineup would always be an advantage, but it&#x27;s primarily being bet on because of the starting pitchers and overall teams
