Well...you're certainly losing that battle.
As for the Red Sox being out of the playoffs...that won't happen if the Rays have anything to say about it. They don't want to win anymore.

I actually want to face your Rangers again. But don't look into the season matchup. The Yanks played very well against you guys last year and that didn't mean anything. But if you guys really are sending 3 lefties out there...the Yanks shouldn't have too many problems against the pitching. Montero will be the DH and 2 of the 3 lefties in the lineup (Cano and Granderson) can't be neutralized against lefties (Gardner can). I heard the stat yesterday about the Yankees against lefties this season and they have over 30 wins and just 16 losses against lefties.
The only problem, of course, is your offense (with Napoli and Murphy finally getting every day playing time), is stacked from top to bottom and the Yankees' rotation isn't exactly scary. However...Girardi said they can use a 3 man rotation with only Sabathia going on short rest. So It'll be Sabathia, Nova and Colon or Garcia.
As for the best chance of beating the Phillies...I still think the Yankees have the best chance. The Yanks have the best bullpen in the AL by a long shot and the 2nd best in baseball. That's really saying something. Everyone knew their bullpen would be a strength going into the season...but nobody expected Wade, Ayala, Robertson and Noesi to be the reason for it.
However...if the Angels make the playoffs...I think they have the best matchup against the Phillies.
Weaver v Halladay
Haren v Lee
Santana v Hamels
??? v Oswalt
It would be an incredible matchup. I do, also, think the Rays have the pitching to compete as well...but I don't think they would be able to make it to the WS.
I just can't fucking wait.
