Another perfect example again tonight. Over half the games where the team leading in the 8th Inning ended up losing or giving up a substantial # of runs and barely won because of the Bullpen blowing the save opportunity
1. White Sox. Led 5-4 in 8th and won 6-5 in 11th
2. Mariners. Led 5-3 in 8th and lost 7-5 in 11th
3. Indians. Led 3-1 in 9th and lost 4-3 in 9th
4. Red Sox. Led 2-0 in 8th and won 2-1 in 9th
5. Dodgers. Led 4-1 in 8th and won 4-3 in 9th
6. Reds. Led 3-2 in 8th and lost 4-3 in 10th
7. Mets. Led 7-0 in 8th and barely won 8-6 in 9th
8. Brewers. Led 8-2 in 8th and won 8-5 in 9.
Granted, some of those games were won by the team leading in the 8th, but some in extra innings and most barely winning because the BP gave up substantial leads that made it much closer than it should have been.
If I were a starting pitcher with the lead in the 8th, I would pull a Jack Morris and not give up the ball for fear of my BP losing the game for me.
I can see it happening occasionally, but for half the games on a daily slate- that's unfathomable and completely unacceptable for these overpaid "professional closers"
Just my opinion, but curious if others feel the same way. And not just from a gambling situation, just from a fan of the game.

Weirdly enough had an hour conversation tonight about what fadrordie is talking about am i truthfully believe point shaving is not extinct in this world. The mob might not run all the the games, but some of these outcomes are mearly just for entertainment sadly. And i hate to believe it but im starting to consider if it was done in the 70 & 80 why not now?
Learned a long time ago "you bet what you know"

And im the biggest sports fan youll probably ever meet, sometimes you gotta think and look outside of the box if youre trying to find what youre looking for. I might be going down the wrong track here but do believe fadeordie not completely 100% but let me ask you this? Why doesnt one single vegas casino go out of business? Obviously bc they win more then they lose. All of them. Mob?

Vegas/sportsbooks never go out of business because of the vig. Simple as that. They are merely the pawns for what is the bigger scam - the people who control sports (or as I say again, the entertainment of sports).
I use "Vegas" as a loose term. When I say "Vegas has a hand in this game" or "Vegas' fix comes through", I refer to the Man Behind the Curtain who predetermines all the games. This "Man" may be a single person, or it may be a secret group of people - one many never find out.

So it come back to my original Post. Are the Bullpens truly that shi$$y, or is there really "shaving", like Tobbet claims? I mean, how do you get to so many players, and with so many "coincidental" happenings, how could someone not "spill the beans"?
I'm more inclined to say there are that many terrible relievers/ closers (biggest case and point- RODNEY!!!) that are getting paid way too much money to be as terrible as they are.
But then again, are there that many terrible relievers/ closers to have the outcome of over half of todays slate of games change that drastically from the 8th inning on. I just don't believe there could be that many "coincidental outcomes".
