Remember that it was Wayne Huizenga who first bought a World Series before Loria did. They both sold out the team and the city immediately after.

Interestingly enough, the owner between the two for only 3 years was John W. Henry the current and beloved owner of the Red Sox.

I constantly tell this story when I argue about an MLB Salary cap - that too much of the game is won or lost on a GM or owner&#x27;s spreadsheet instead of on the field. The disparity of payroll is disgusting and I love to see small teams with little payrolls make a run and love to see the big payroll teams roll over. The Marlins winning the series aftyer buying everyone and then selling everyone off and going to &lt;.500  is one of the biggest, blackest marks on MLB that usually is quietly kicked under the carpet. Thanks for bringing it up, next time we&#x27;re in a bar I&#x27;m buying.
