In a scenario where a team is down 0-2, game 3 is basically game 7 and an absolute must win. Now Cubs have shown no life after the Swaeber home run but when your season is on the line and Maddon foolishly leaves Hendrik in for 2 batters in the 6th, how do you not bring in Wade Davis in that spot? I know he's your closer and you bring him in to close the game but chances were that scenario was never going to present itself. Knowing that at 3 - 1 your chances of winning is 20 % at best and at 4 - 1 it drops to under 10 % territory, why do you not team is your season is on the line there?

When is the last time you saw a closer enter in T6 ..... game 3 game 5 game 7....
Wth are you talking about man. There are some things you just don't do.makes zero sense wade isn't a jansen. He's just another pos on the cubs. Even if he were a jansen you don't bring a closer in T6

Last year Roberts put his set up man in the 3rd inning, Giraldi went to the bullpen in the 1st inning, hell even Maddon put his closer in the 7th inning. If your gonna put him in the 7th inning of a must win game why not the 6th? I'm not saying this decision changed the game as the Cubs still scored a measly one run but you can't be this laconic in an elimination game.

Here's my thing: Dodgers addressed their weaknesses. They got Darvish who has solidified their rotation and most importantly their bullpen is one of their strong points now. With that, they have brought up some great talent along with keeping veterans in there for depth (ethier, gonzalez, utley).
The Cubs on the other hand took something that was very good and they messed it up. They got rid of Chapman, why? Because he didn't like the way Maddon managed him. And I agree with him there. They wouldn't pay Fowler who was the glue in that clubhouse and they didn't add any veteran leadership. I look at the Cubs and I don't see that go to guy like Ross last year. Rizzo comes out and says respect me yet he's had two hits since that game! Also contreras and Baez are being exposed because of their lack of plate discipline. Yankees got Holliday, Astros have Beltran and the Dodgers have a few of those guys. Veterans in the clubhouse. Cubs don't really have those type of guys. Theo needs to address that next year and as long as Maddon is there as manager, it's hard for me to get behind that team. He got away with a lot of bad moves last year yet this year, he's being exposed as a mediocre manager. Cubs basically print their own money so if they don't go out and fix things here, the Yankees, Astros, dodgers and Indians will pass them along.

achilles achilles achilles. wade davis with his contract>chapman with his contract. theo made that move - it wasn't up to chapman. their closer is not their problem. their rotation isn't quite as strong as last year, and neither is their middle relief. middle relief is basically all that matters in mlb playoffs. theirs stinks. i love your essays though bro - keep it up. dude called astros dodgers from before. he goes out on limbs. achilles on a tree!

Problem is Wade Davis is being blown left and right on this forum by several people, but in reality Wade Davis is a Has-Been. This guy is not a legit closer, he's not amazing, hence why Maddon doesn't go to him. He's not a sure 3-6 outs, you're talking about WADE DAVIS. If Maddon has a Jansen in his pen that's a different story.
Moral of the story: Wade Davis is average. Bringing him in is no different than bringing in Duensing.
