Reports are Juan Rivera is also headed to the Jays.
If this is true that its Napoli and Rivera for Wells (and the Angels aren't getting any money from the Jays) then the Blue Jays raped the Angels in this trade.
Abreu will be the DH so I guess Vlad is probably not in their plans to be brought back. Rays are closing in on Damon and have shown interest in Manny as well.

Angels taking a big gamble here, but that's the nature of sports. He could still put up decent numbers and a change of scenery will be good for him. If Angels benefit from his bat and glove, then it will be worth it, sounds like they weren't resigning Napoli anyways, so they probably look at it as a softer hit with some salary exchange. According to MLB.com Jays are supposed to be sending some cash over in the deal, time will tell if this is true or not.
As a Jays fan, he provided a couple of good year, he was a good guy in the clubhouse, but he was also given his massive contract on the strength of one big year back when Mr. Rogers was still alive and in the game with a larger wallet. I am glad to see him and his salary gone, the team can use the money elsewhere to rebuild this franchise and bring in some fresh, younger blood.
Definite edge to the Jays on this one.

Wells is brutal at that salary, about as unclutch a hitter as there is. I'm really impressed that they were able to unload him. The freed up money will probably go straight to Bautista, which I think is the right move.

big mistake by the halos letting Nap go but they didnt think he was worth the 6million that he was asking for, along with Rivera whose numbers has been on a down hill slide.
this move is bringing me flashbacks of when they let go of Figgins. why do the Halos let go of productive players to take a chance on other slumping big names?

The question will be what Wells does. I am not going to say the Angels made a great deal based on his salary, but if Wells hits 35+ HR and creates another threat in the Angels lineup, than they will have got what they wanted. They finished 2 games under .500 last year, now they have a legitimate gold glove in the field and a bat to create another threat.
They are paying heavy for him, and Wells is a very streaky hitter, but when he is hot, he is an extremely effective, if not dangerous hitter.
A change of scenery can sometimes do wonders for a career. Remember when Clemens went to Toronto after it appeared he was done (steroid issue aside)? He has 2 back to back pitching years that may not have been matched since. Wells was ready to go, this is why he waived his no-trade. He was emotionally and spiritually done in Toronto, and it showed.
Jays needed to unload his salary to pay Bautista. Wells days were numbered, the team is rebuilding smoothly and he is not part of such a rebuild.
The Jays will not win the East next year unless God is a Blue Jays fan, but the Angels could sneak into the West. If Wells helps this team into the post-season within the next 3 years than it was a good trade.
Sports require risk and give and take. I see this as a potential win/win trade for both teams. Though I certainly think from an open-market standpoint, Wells is well overpaid.

Jays trying to build themselves into a TB type mold, good idea. Give it time and it will work out nicely. I love their Rauch pickup, I was hoping TB was going to get him. The kid is gritty.

I was willing to give the Angels a pass figuring the Jays would end up paying at least half of Wells' salary. Apparently they only forked over 5 million... Can you say "suckers"?
Hopefully they use that money to bring in a veteran starter and another bat.

Wells was one of the worst defensive CF's in baseball last year.
