Pretty much everything changes today as the Mutts face a weak lefty and
they finished 20-16 versus lefty starters last year with a 5.25 oera their last
15 in that category. Verrett had a great spring with a 1.15 era and 0.83 whip.
Winning a spot in the Mets rotation is not easy, so management must have a lot
of faith in him.
Indians/Rays, 5 inning total, Under
3.5, -116, Carrasco/Smyly
Both of these guys got off to a rough start last week but face a lot
less offensive potential today than they did versus the BoSox and Orioles,
respectively. I expect a bounce back performance from both as I have them rated
much better than those opening performances would suggest and a five inning
shutout from either or both would not be surprising.

GL today Key. I hope Carrasco pitches well. The Indians have not got out of him and Kluber so far this season.
Not to worry, Kluber and Carrasco will be fine, it was just a very strange opening week with unusually high scores coming in and many of the best starters looking poor, with a starting pitcher era of 4.44 and average game scores of 8.84. Both of those stats are too high to hold up.

How the heck does anyone go 18-11 with negative units? What's up with that Pussieman? Typo? Anyway, if that were my record I don't think I would be posting a contrarian play in this thread. Just sayin'...........

This guy Conley dominated this same lineup last year..... What's the angle hear with the mets bats cold as ice?
A very nice win in a string of four solid starts last September, but overall I do not think he is that good and his opening shot at the Nationals was more like the Conley you need to get used to. Per my ratings he is only borderline Major League quality.

Marlins 10-2 in 12 of conleys carreer starts. I just do not like going against teams that are about to be swept at home.

I love Conley under his K total today Key, for those reasons you stated. Also ump Mike Everett likes to award the home team w/ more walks than the visitors. Conley is less effective out of the stretch(as most pitchers are)

I am not a big fan of career versus but I will concede they are 7-3 his last 10 starts. The Marlins averaged 6 runs per game in those 7 wins and his personal era was 4.50. I feel that casts a little shadow on the 7-3 as 7 would be quite high for the Marlins these days and 4.50 is not an above era in this day and age (It is not a quality start either), but in a couple of hours I guess we will know. JMHO.
