There are two things I feel strongly about here. The Marlins can carry
over a little momentum from their 5 straight wins over the Giants and Dodgers
and that Conley has a future and Davies does not, at least in MLB. Better luck
with your next career attempt.
Padres +163, Vargas/Wood
In Vargas debut the Padres got their fannies kicked by the Cardinals,
but he personally did not, going an impressive 5 innings and surrendering only
a solo shot in the sixth that did any damage. The Padres actually won the 5
inning game as Vargas outdueled Wacha for a 1-0 win. Wood is not as impressive
as he has produced only a 2-2 h2h record with a 1-3 mark for quality starts.
The surprising factor here though is that since opening shutouts to Kershaw and
Kazmir (always possible) the Padres have hit very well versus lefty starters
and produced an 8.03 oera with 3 quality performances in their 5 efforts. This
game is much closer to pickem than many folks would like to think and at +163 I
have to take a shot.

Like the Padres with a little revenge on their mind from opening week and Dodgers are a mess right now, Miami I think is in a flat spot off a big series win and maybe a bit tired and taking it easy tonight so I disagree on that one. But good luck none the less!

Yes, I am aware Gordon has been suspended and that does not effect the play.
but the fact that miami arrived in Milwaukee around 0500, about 12 hours before kick-off, after being on the west coast for several days certainly should.

Same boat with the Fish Unfortunately I took it at open at -120 before the Gordon news.
Off topic, you've mentioned "strange results" a couple times. Add these to the list...
-Anibal Sanchez was the first pitcher since 2002 (Steve Sparks) to record a win while allowing 7 or more walks.
-Anibal Sanchez allowed 3 base runners to steal a bag with out a throw. I couldn't find any interesting tid bits about that in particular, but that just flat out sucks. Bad mound presence.
-Anibal Sanchez is the first Tigers Pitcher since 1988 (Jack Morris) to strike out 9 and walk 7 in the same start.

Well, sac, stats provide us with a basis for handicapping but that does not mean every player in every game has to play to the averages or norms. Normally not one player in any game will play to his exact stats It is an inexact science with all kinds of extraneous factors thrown in and I guess that is part of the challenge. To even mention Jack Morris and Anibal Sanchez in the same sentence is sort of an example What's gonna happen next is always the question. BOL2U2

If I am not mistaken didn't the Twins play a 16 inning game, get back to Minnesota far later than their opponent, with a fatigued team and used up bullpen, then go out and win the next day?
