It means I am adding a play, and that is all it means. If you look at much earlier posts I told a guy this morning that -140 (when it was -155) was my target point for value. It went even lower and I jumped it. Don't read things into the post that aren't there.

You ever notice some pitchers just do not get any support?
Teheran seems to be that guy for the Braves this year. Although his numbers are good, the team invariably loses when he pitches. Do you take that into consideration when you cap?
Greinke started really rough but has been better of late. In that the Braves do not hit for Teheran, I am going to play the F5 under.

Hitters never choose who they are going to hit for. It is a matter of two things, being hot/cold and the opposing pitchers. Right now the Braves are hitting the ball well and Greinke is vulnerable, as he has been all year. The money at +131 versus +71 makes the play very worthwhile.

I wonder if there is any correlation between the number of runs you score and the number of runs your opponent scores however. There must be some small correlations at the margins. Managers will manage differently in blowouts than in close games. For example, if the DBacks are up 7-0 in the 6th inning, it's more likely that the Braves could see the weak underbelly of the DBacks Bullpen than they normall would etc. Also, Braves hitters might feel more pressure in close game to score than they would in a blowout and this pressure could either make them more likely to get a hit or less. Etc Etc. I'm sure you could come up with multiple examples of reasons why you might expect less run support for a particular pitcher.

huskerfan5b - We see blowouts and tight games no matter what circumstances prevail. My point is, hitters always want to hit, but are subject to their own hot/cold periods and the opposing pitcher(s). Some folks on Covers think that if a pitcher receives low run support it is somehow part of his performance or the lack of desire of the team to hit on a given day. It is a mystery, but never establishes a trend or angle.

You are quoting these numbers in your thread then come into my thread and question my rays play at +145?? Lines fluctuate buddy, especially at opening and closing. You remind me of the many newbies that come on this site over the years and question posted line prices in other members threads 
like their book's price is the law and the line shall never fluctuate.

when someone's posted line is WAY off then yeah, it will raise eyebrows but when someone's line is plus or minus 10 cents or even 15 and you start nit picking integrity?????

Thanks for the answer. It never ceases to amaze me how some guys get no run support. 
Jon Gray seems to be on a roll where he leaves the games winning and the bullpen messes it up.  Again, I know they do not do that on purpose but he has lost many a games this year late to the lousy Rockies pen.

How about Bumgarner for Giants,he has lost twice 1-0 I believe and his ERA of 2.44 with a 12-8 record would back up what your saying.

I check lines at 15 major books and when you posted the Rays were not over +126 at any of them - shove it. Claiming +145 right at game time was a lie, End of story.

Why did you not just use the old Covers excuse? "I played last night but didn't get a chance to post". Lots of jerks like that one. No wonder you have 0 popularity and 0 friends.
