I posted this in McGowan's last start, but a little refreshment never hurts. Here are Mcgowan's home/turf and road/grass splits in his career as well as (2008 stats):
Home : 12-6 / 3.31 ERA (3-1 / 1.93 ERA)
Turf : 13-6 / 3.20 ERA (3-1 / 2.15 ERA)
Road : 6-13 / 5.98 ERA (1-3 / 5.68 ERA)
Grass : 5-13 / 6.55 ERA (1-3 / 6.00 ERA)
The Yankees bats are slowly starting to come around and opposing McGowan will be the Yanks # 1 and best home pitcher. Wang has struggled at Yankee Stadium this year, mostly due to his control not being there. Simply a funk for Wang as his historic numbers in the Bronx are too good to ignore.
Keep in mind, Wang's worst ERA month over his career has been May .. Now that June has rolled in, expect to see more consistency from Wang, especially at home.
Interesting to see the total at 8.5 .. Leads me to believe that it's assumed one of the starters today will be in prime form .. If the assumption is accurate, you have to love Wang at home with the Yanks bats coming around
