Five years ago, I thought there was a Cy Young in Hamels future,
but I no longer feel that way about him or his future. Verlander stepped almost
seamlessly from the Tigers to the Astros and remained a stout competitor even
in the Tigers worst days. He helped them to the W.S. title last year and obviously
remains hungry for more, just as his teammates do. Completing S.T. with a 1.64
era, 0.86 whip and a 12:1 K/BB ratio pretty much tells me everything I need to
know about one of the best of his generation.
