Taking advantage of the early lines today and I have also changed the color of the First 5 Inning plays to help out the guts that don’t always spot that. If anyone complains he is color blind we will have to help him wit his reading and comprehension. Write ups soon.

A’s: You could add 30 to 50 cents to this line if the game were played in Oakland but the public bettor will always think in terms of home field advantage. The question is, where is it? The visitor is 18-10 on the road and the home boys are just 12-14 in their own crib. The last time I checked Kuroda was not regarded as the Yankees stopper and has, in fact, declined form last year, with only a 64.9 rating from 67.3. Kazmir continues to roll at 73.4, with an 8-3 record h2h and recording 10 quality starts in 11 appearances. The offensive comparison is almost as dismal for the Yankees as they are just 8-7 last 15 vs. righty starters with an oera of 3.40. The A’s counter at 9-6 and 5.60.   

Phillies: We have to play First 5 here as the Phillies bullpen is shot and that is a major part of the 9 inning line, while having no effect on the first 5 other than that is where they start and did not in this case lower the payout enough to compensate for that. In a 5 inning play we could care less about the condition of the bullpen and there is no way the underachieving Nationals and Zimmermann stand a 65% chance of winning the first 5.

Giants: When the (currently) best team in baseball is an underdog to an underachiever we need to take a shot at the bonus bucks. Here again, at 18-11 versus 12-12, where is the almighty home field advantage? Timmy has been maligned a little the last couple years and maybe he is no longer a Cy Young candidate, but at 69.0, 7-4 h2h, and 7-4 qs, he compares very favorably with Homer at 65.6, 4-7, and 4-7. If we are in a hitter’s park we want the better offense don’t we? Give me the Giants at 11-4 and 6.20 oera any day versus 8-7 and 3.2.
