Braves: Play to -143: When the going gets tough the tough turn to Kyle Kendrick for yet another poor performance and again wonder how the guy that threw $5.5 million on the table for three years keeps his job. If the Rockies can dump Kendrick’s salary on someone else and fire the guy that signed him they may have some hope for the future, but I suspect every GM they call just rolls on the floor laughing at the prospect of picking up an insane contract and getting fired himself. By the end of Kendrick’s stint in Colorado we can only hope he has made us the same $5.5 million he is collecting. Oh well, that’s enough picking on Kendrick, a guy I don’t even know and have nothing personal against. There are more important factors here to discuss, like the Braves having turned in four straight quality offensive performances versus righty and scoring 9.3 offensive earned runs per 9 over that span. The Rockies counter that with just 4 quality offensive performances their last 15 versus lefty and a miserable 2.8 oera over that span. It gets even uglier if you realize 7 of those last 15 were home games, where the Rockies should be really potent. Every year there are a couple teams that either destroy lefties during a given stretch or can’t touch them and since only 24% of all starts are made by lefties it goes almost unnoticed, but I try to keep an eye out for such aberrations.

Hi Key. Thank you for your write ups.. It's the first thing I look for every morning. What is your take on the Pirates today? I know Maritnez is a stud but aren't Locke isn't too shabby and I gathered from your previous posts that the Cards are terrible against left handers.
