Take some notes from Theo Epstein pal, or any other competent GM for that matter.
I'll call it now...next year when the A's are still in the cellar, he'll trade away Sean Manaea for next to nothing. So he won't have to pay another good baseball player.
Any A's fans out there...how do you guys feel about Mr. Bean?

Sometimes I think I like Beans operation, but he doesn't have the 'play to win mentality' and I feel is always in rebuild mode, or does the corporate business model of doing more with less. Not sure if it's him or ownership.

If you've been lurking so long, you'd know I never get offended by anyone on the internet. As for criticism, I'm all for it. Your reply wasn't criticism. Didn't even respond to the quoted question.

It seems like the rip it all down before the previous rebuild is even finished.
This trade in particular is a head scrtcher. 2 of the 3 "prospects" had major injuries putting them on the shelf earlier this year. Not only are they "prospects", but coming off a major knee injury and tommy john. C'mon.
Gray is only 27, and is throwing pellets. You couldn't find a better suitor with something better to offer? Everyone was after Gray.
How about keeping him? 27 years old, in his prime. He has Arguably another GOOD 5 to 6 years left in him. How long does a Billy BeanE rebuild last? He is/was their ace. That's where you start, keep that in place imo. He's not eligible for free agency till after 2019 anyway, making 3.575 mill this year. And his only leverage for a raise in the next 2 years is salary arbitration.
The Yankees stole him

I agree when i heard about the trade. I could not believe it. Yankees "stole" sonny from the A's for close to nothing did not lose one real chip they planned to use in the next year and a half. You mean to tell me no other team would give up more for sonny or at least get 3 healthy guys from the yanks? I don't see those prospects imapacting the A's at all in 2018
