R.a dickey deserves the cy young tho best nl pitcher today..

Mets stink but whenever dickey is out there they are one of the best MLB teams

dickey has a lower ERA, lower WHIP, more IP, more K's and he got 20 wins pitching for the muts. if he pitched for the nats this year he might've won 25 games

close call but gotta go with dickey over gio

Nats are 24-8 in his starts...he was terrible in the first inning last night...3 runs ...37 pitches ...he battled back..held them in check,until their bats took over...GG is the ultimate warrior...

When Felix won it in 2010, Seattle was 61-101.

When Greinke won it in 2009, KC was 65-97.

CY Young Award is less to do with team standings that MVP does. You can find numerous CY Young award winners from below average teams.

Started a thread about this and without a question this is Dickey's award. Gio had a great year, but he played for the best team in the league, walked a tone of batters, and had the ability to go out and "pitch" with much less pressure knowing that even if he gives up a couple, his team still has a great shot to win.

Dickey is the feel good story, and IMO one of the greatest feel good stories sports has ever witnessed. He comes out, admits to being molested in his younger years, and all of a sudden the next season he comes out and without a doubt pitches the most dominant season of 2012. Dickey was the most dominant pitcher this year.

Dickey pitched 28 more innings than Gio, that's just over 3 games. He had 5 CG's compared to Gio's 2, including 3 shutouts to Gio's 1. He has a considerably better ERA, more SO's, and the list goes on. I'm just completely baffled when people say that Gio deserves it more. If you know sports, if you know baseball, and if you have a heart, then Dickey gets the vote.

Put it this way, if Dickey doesn't win it will be an absolute robbery. The voters know the story of Dickey and what happened before the season, and they will make this the cherry on top.

steve carlton in '72 had  46 per cent of the phillies's wins; team won 59 games, lefty had 27 of them...

no argument here that dickey has the numbers BUT bottom line i throw the stats out the window and revert to the eyeball test, if my life depends on picking one pitcher to win one game im going with gonzalez over a one-trick pony...

IMO that makes gonzalez the right choice for the award

Thats a horrible way to determine the winner. Plus, going of this season I'd much rather have Dickey the more dominant pitcher over Gio who tends to walk batters. This is ALL about the stats, let's be realistic. Going by the main pitching stats, and obvious things such as having pitched way more innings, more complete games, and more complete game shutouts, this shouldn't even be a 2 horse race, Dickey wins with ease.
