I'm sure that it's not, but it's hard not to think it was personal. You would think that the pitcher would get the benefit of the call being a perfect game and up 3-0 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th. If it's close, you have to call him out! This is disgusting!
You would think it would be blown the other way. For this guy's sake and safety, he better hope he doesn't call another game in Detroit.

I don’t give a shit about Galarrage. I don’t give a shit about Detroit and I feel terrible watching that so I can only imagine how Detroit fans feel, much less Galarraga himself.
I mean how the fuck do you make that call? It wasn’t even close. Hell, even if it was a tie one would think the tie would go AGAINST the runner in that case.
I think the ump is just a dick that is pissed off about having to spend his days around men making 100 times more per year than he is.

I can't explain how I feel being a Tiger Fan. It truly fucking sucks! You feel so bad for the guy, and he is being so calm and classy that i commend him. Everybody but him is pissed it seems like. But deep down you know he is saying i can't believe that.

He was safe... The pitcher never had complete control of the ball.
I would of called him safe as well... I umpire college baseball...
His foot was on the bag but he was juggling very very very slighty.

the real problem with the call is...........although slo mo clearly shows he's safe, so the call is clearly terrible.........what's even WORSE is, it was a bang bang call, with a perfect game on the line.......so, in this situation, the call most definitely has to go to the pitcher.........EVEN IF it ultimately proved to be a tie or close play........as Osirius says above, no one (or far far fewer) would complain if he missed a bang bang play, the other way......in fact he would be revered in Detroit for all-time

Yea point out the positives, their is enough BS around. The kid was happy, go with that energy.
Joyce forgot the situation.
Great pitching performance, hope Garallaga becomes one of the greats.
