The players hate him and ironically the front office is starting to dislike Bobby. The Sox are in disarray and it might get worse before it gets better. The only bright side is that they have talent and talent can overcome adversity

If u want people to start respecting your precious o's why do u hope for losing streaks? Twice in this thread you said you hope for 5-10 over 15 games and even now 3-6! I think deep down your a realist and know the outcome

Please. Break down last season for me. Because one thing I've learned from all of your analysis over the past 3-4 years is that you can talk all the stats you want...but the O's are still a sub-.500 team when all is said and done and aren't anywhere near the postseason.
Matsuz his whole life has used the same windup/mechanics. He has always sat low 90s 89-92 and touching 94 rarely.
Last year a new pitching coach came in, after Matusz was one of the best pitchers in the entire majors hte last month of the 2010 season. Connors decided to tinker with Matusz and every single pitcher on the staff. Every single pitcher regressed because of Connors changing things that Kranitz had them doing and they were doing it with success.
In spring training Matusz had an injury to his ribs/back/shoulder. He was sidlined for a little and rushed back before he was fully healthy. As a result it threw his mechanics all out of whack because he did not feel like himself. He was pitching in the mid-high 80s now and could barely even touch 90. He was sitting mostly 85-88 and that is a huge problem because it did not create enough difference in speed with his changeup. His secondaries were also flat compared to how they usually are... For those unaware about Matusz his changeup is his best pitch hands down (and had been for his college and brief major league career) and his curve and slider were also major league pitches.
He started to lose confidence because he had known what he had doen in the past and how he had always had success while pitching the way he had pitched. Now he was being changed and seeing lower velocity and his off speed offerings were worse and with less movement. His new windup also ruined the control he had shown all throughout college and his brief professional career. The results were compiling the worst ERA for a major league season by a starter in history.
Onto this year. He is back to throwing 89-92 and his curve and slider look much better. His change has started to look better but he has yet to get the feel for it like he had in 2010. He is still working on things and getting better ever time he is out on the mound. He admitted his spring training that last year he didnt come into camp in as good as shape as he could have been and he lost mental focus when everything started going downhill for him.

Ugh. I wasn't serious. My point was that it doesn't matter how you break it down...at the end of the day...it's going to be all for nothing because the O's aren't going to maintain this pace.

Sounds similar to the what you said about the Rays 3 years ago. I was on their bandwagon yet everyone thought they were a fluke.
This year the Yankees are not as good as previously thought. Their pitching is some of the worst in the league and there is no Pineda coming through that door and who really knows how Pettitte is going to fare.
CC is very good but he is not ACE material. Kurodo will have his ups and downs and Hughes needs a change o scenery. Nova has been ordinary. Montero was already traded so there is one less piece to use for starting pitching help.
Mo going down somewhat weakens the bullpen. The offense is still dangerous but the pitching is suspect.
BoSox... I am very close to writing them off cause I dont think they can turn this train wreck around with Bobby V there. Too many problems.
Rays are the best team in the division. Really no question about that and their pitching will keep them in just about every game.
Jays are up and down but very dangerous. They have underachieved in every aspect so far but they can turn the corner at any moment.
Bottom line... the O's are more dangerous than anyone thougth and the rest of hte AL East is talented. That means the Yankees, Rays, Jays, Sox are not going to win as many games as previously thought because the Orioles are not as bad as previously thought. They will all beat up on eachother and as I said before the season no team will win 100 games and I think 94-96 wins the division.
Last year the O's played 105 games vs teams .500 or better while the Tigers played i think 56 games. The Orioles had over a .500 win % vs teams .500 or worse. Their problem is the unbalanced schedule so they play the AL East teams 18 games a year. This year they might change that trend and will not be walked over by the entire AL East.

Just have to enjoy this while it lasts and hope the pitching holds up. Every team in baseball has cold streaks so its inevitable the O's will have a period where they play poorly. Just have to hope its not a continual trend of playing poorly and losing confidence.

What you have to fear is the betting public catching up to them. Don't worry about it. That is not entirely true about Bobby V. He was one of the candidates interviewed but was never offered the job and eventually withdrew his name from consideration when the Marlins job also opened in late 2010.

Exactly. And they Rays are STILL surprising me. They are, also, one of the biggest surprises in baseball every season. The fact that they maintain what they're doing year in and year out is unheard of. And it's unheard of because it's SO RARE. So rare, in fact, that you can't expect the Orioles to follow what the Rays did.

I forgot to add if they do trade Jones, that would be a terrible decision but if they don't want to give him somewhere in the ballpark of 6 years 80 mill (making it the most in team history) they should trade him for prospects.
