I dont think they are the best team in the division and I dont believe they have a very good chance of the playoffs.

However, they are much better than a 70 win team and I would wager a guess that every team in the league would not put them in a top 10 list of teams they would pick to play.

You and a bunch of people on here still view them as the lowly Orioles are not giving them any respect for being one of the best 5 teams in baseball 1/4 of the season. A team as bad as the Orioles (according to most on covers) would not be one of the best 5 teams in baseball for a 1/4 of the season.

Thats more than a 10-15 game sample size.

I say it's too early to tell. Who knows how Pettitte will pitch once he gets his feet wet. Who knows if Hughes will settle down or eventually be sent back to the DL. Who knows how Robertson will settle in as the closer.

The only thing we know is that Cano will get better.

But the difference between the Yankees being "legit" and most other teams being "legit" is that "legit" means Championship contenders...not just a playoff team. I think they'll make the playoffs. But how far they go is beyond me.

If you are 1 of only 5 teams to make the playoffs. You are legit.

Any team can win a best of 5 or 7 once in the playoffs. According to you there are only 3-4 legit teams if you are only counting chance to win it all.

There is more like 10-12 legit teams in the entire MLB.

I think the Rangers, Angels and Tigers, in a playoff series, are all better than any team in the AL East. I would call those 3 teams legit World Series contenders based on how I believe they will shape up by season's end.

Come on now Sparky ... the Orioles are winning and that is the bottom line. 

The young talent they brought up or traded for are legit players and are playing up to their potential.  If all the right pieces fall in place, like they are for the Os, then you got a legit baseball team.

The only thing we can do right now is see who is on top.  I agree that the Rangers are the best team in baseball but it is not like the Orioles wouldn't hang in neutral series against the tigers or angels.

Congrats. You have something to be happy about. But like I said...the Orioles were hot when Buck first came out. All of you were so happy about the direction they were going. Then they fell apart. Now they're playing well again and you're all happy again.

It's a LONG season. 

Will the Angels play under .500 baseball all season? NO

Arizona? NO

Will the Tigers play .500 baseball all season? NO

Cincy? NO

Everything will start to make sense as the season goes on and that includes the Orioles coming back down to earth. Call me bias. Call me ignorant. But I'll call myself real and I won't live in the moment when the moment isn't even at the half way mark.

Because I'm not going to argue about a month and a half worth of starts. And it's not like whoever took over for Connors fixed everything considering that your top 2 starters (Hammel and Chen) weren't even guys who were "ruined" by Connors. 3 of your 5 starters have an ERA over 5.

Dude you have no clue what you are talking about. ZERO. Matusz last year vs. Matusz this year is night and day with everything. He has pitched much better than his stat sheet say. If you even watched his starts you would realize that.

He pitched great last game. A fuck up on defense (botched double play) allowed the inning to continue and 2 runs scored. You really have no idea how to evaluate pitching.

Yes Connors having Matusz in the 85-89 range with his fastball vs. now Matusz in 89-93 range because they went back to his original mechanics.

His secondaries are also sharper and once he gets the feel back for his changeup its back to him being the pitcher in 2010. If you cannot grasp how important that drop in velocity was then its useless to even talk pitching with you.

Oh yea and you are right about the O's having no effect with Hammel. They only told him to start using his 2 seem sinker again after he hadn't been using it hte past 2 years.

They are absolute idiots. He should be pissed at Adair for telling him to use that pitch after seeing the success he is having.

You're right. I haven't watched his starts. I didn't know that the guy threw a double play ball into the outfield to allow 2 runs to score. Or did that not happen and he had another batter to face that he still could have gotten out and didn't?

Pitchers have to get themselves out of jams. Whether they put themselves in it or their defense did. It's part of the game.

Or maybe 2010 was his peak season with that sterling 4.30 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.

His first full season and he was one of the 10 best pitchers in all of baseball in the last month and half of that season when he put everything together.

Get a clue about Matusz before mispeaking again.

The botched double play happened with 1 out so there was still 1 out when it happened. Thus why only 1 run was earned.

And just so you know Matusz has had defensive mishaps every single start. And 5 of his earned runs this year are because Gregg allowed 3 to score and O'day allowed 2. Once again keep looking at his stat sheet instead of having any actual knowledge of how he's pitched and the circumstance during his starts.
