Any advice on this one, pirates good record against Detroit and have liriano going.

Im from pitt. Dont do it. Liriano has been shaky this year and in detroit with max going and pirates lineup with the guys they are throwing out there ... hate going against my team but tigers rl is the play

I think a lot of dogs bark today and this one def has potential. I'd take the +1.5 though to play it safe. GL

Do you guys even look into games or just blindly bet from the looks on the surface? Victor bats over .500 against him. Miggy bats over .350 with a couple bombs. Hunter, Davis, everyone in this lineup owns him. Youre dumb to take the pirates but whatever, your money not mine

Tigers line up today is batting .351 against Liriano (39 hits in 111 ab's)

Of those 39 hits 20 (51.3%) have been for extra bases. 14 Doubles, 1 Triple and 5 Home runs

I usually just flip a coin. That's how I have a 65% win rate.

Also a question I have is how do you guys make money eating the kind of chalk you do? I've never been able to figure that out...

Everybody has their own method... but you are likely looking at matchups that are years old.  Personally, I don't think they weigh too much in a game on 8/13/14

Money is all over Detroit, and the line movement shows it.  I like Liriano in this game.  Detroit bullpen is a tire fire

Also not saying I take this...If I did though I would take the +RL. This could absolutely be a blowout but I see this being closer than those stats would indicate. Just my 2 cents though.

The numbers on Liriano against this club are extremely dated.  He no longer has Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau as run support.

That being said, I wouldn't recommend the Pirates today.  Frankie tends to blow up on the road when coming off consecutive home starts (reference Rockies last yr.)  He is a traditional QS, QS, blowup guy to begin with.  Plus he is a heavy dependent on his slider, which should scare anybody with a Tigers lineup that feasts off of hanging hooks.  And then you factor in a lineup that Clint Hurdle is juggling on a daily basis with moves like Jordy Mercer in the 3 hole, and Jayson Nix being an everyday player.  Laws of reality have to play a role eventually with this lineup.  And then you add Max to the equation....

It turns into Liriano must keep total control of fastball/slider until at least the 7th inning (assuming Watson, Hughes, Melancon all available) + a lineup missing Cutch, Walker and Martin.  A lot of work to do over one game if you ask me.

Polanco serves as a wild card as he has been hot against righties.  He leads off today.  Snider (2nd- LF) has been really hot as well, but it has been against some weak pitches thrown his way.  I don't believe Max will take him lightly as scouting reports are becoming more aware that Snider is actually alive and still playing baseball. Josh (3rd- 3B) is everything to this team right now.  Best bat in lineup today.  Ike Davis (4th- 1B) is a God damn train wreck.  (5th- CF) Marte is VERY immature at the plate still, and Max knows how to take advantage of that.  Pedro (5th- DH) is very, very cold right now and I wouldn't be notching a bet on him breaking out of this today.  Mercer, Stewart and basically a pitcher at 2nd base in M. Martinez rounds out rest of lineup.  

Pirates are a good team, a contender and actually pretty hot considering the injuries.  But reality has to set in eventually, guys.  Gotta go Tigers or no bet.

Good analysis. Here's the problem. I bet real money. And there is no way in hell I eat that kind of chalk.

That is a very long way to say you think Lariano is not a good matchup for the Tigers today.  I disagree, that is why I bet the Tigers.  As of now in the bottom of the 6th Lariano has given up 2 hits and 1 run.  That is quality outing.

Hoping to see that Tigers bullpen soon.  That is the value in taking Pirates today.  Lariano pitch count is low... could go deep in this game

You said you think LARIANO was not a good matchup... I pointed out that he is having a pretty decent outing today.  Do you disagree?

You obviously brisked through everything I wrote, missing points that were outside of Liriano's inconsistency when pitching in visiting parks after consecutive home starts.  One point being that there are too many variables to put money against the Tigers today.

So there's no point in furthering this conversation.  Good luck..

tigers playing smart keeping max into the 8th ending with 120 pitches dont think ive seen that high a count in awhile but with that pen i understand lol
