Ron Roenicke was released from the hospital and I’m certainly happy his health (back) is OK.
However, when a manager makes stupid decisions, I must call them out.Roenicke is skipping Fiers’ spot in the rotation because of Thursday’s day off.I have NO problem w/ a manager skipping a pitcher in his rotation, particularly early in the season, because of a day off. Why?Because, you can start your best pitchers and increase your chances of winning. However, w/ the ole skipper, Roenicke, he’s REDUCING his team’s chances of winning, which is THE EXACT OPPOSITE JOB OF WHAT A MANAGER OF A TEAM IS SUPPOSED TO DO!!!Fiers is without a doubt the Brewers’ 2nd best starting pitching option behind Gallardo. The grand ole skipper, Roenicke, is basing his decision because of a whopping 5 inning sample size in Fiers’ first start of the season.Instead of skipping Estrada or Peralta, both of whom probably shouldn’t be in any MLB starting rotation, Roenicke is going to skip his SECOND BEST STARTING PITCHING OPTION BECAUSE HE DIDN’T LIKE WHAT HE SAW IN FIVE FREAKING INNINGS.
And you wonder why the Brewers aren’t going anywhere this year. It’s because their manager is decreasing the team’s chances of winning.
