He was averaging like 8 K's or so in his minor league starts.... But then he comes up and strikes out 14.... Yea those Pirates are good hitters.... The nasty Pirates

To early too tell, is what most people are thinking.  But the repetitive Strasburg threads are getting a bet annoying to say the less.  Anyway, the kid is good no doubt about it. 

You put a pitcher on a team who lacks run support and has an imploding BP, thus ending in a "L" repeatedly for the SP; will [over time] play games with his mind, thus disrupt his perfomance.

If and when this may happen will be the true test for this young phenom!

Insert yanks or sox in that game last tuesday and he probably has similar results. I dont see any yankees that would have touched those pitches. Jeter? arod? Tex? (hell no he cant hit anything)

Your logic is absurd. You're attempting to diminish his performance by stating that he actually performed better against a major league squad than he did against minor league ball clubs. Are you prepared to argue that the Pirates are actually worse than the average minor league team?  It's also worth noting that he didn't average anywhere close to seven innings per outing in the minors--the number of innings he pitched against Pittsburgh.

I will never put money on that guy ever untill I see him pitch a season and at less then -200 no way om a rookie.

I say take him on the moneyline conservatively..If he loses double the bet for his next start...Im excited about the kid cuz he is gonna be a moneymaker giving up 3-4 runs with a potent offense..Anyone not taking this guy at least in home starts is not thinking..As somebody else on this thread says..He will be unhittable his first couple rounds thru the league..Why not take advantage of that ? I sure am going too..So far I'm 2-0 lol

He didnt say his team is the best. He said he was the best. AROD was the best player in baseball hands down for years playing on the lowly Rangers.

Everyone on here can see this kid is talented. Let's just hope the Nats don't pitch him into the ground, let's hope he doesn't develop any type of arm injury, and let's hope if he is successful he doesn't develop that mentality that he's King Shit and puts himself in situations like Ben Roethlisberger, Plaxico Burress, or LT.

The kid is great!!! But hey its only his rookie season..... Ever hear of Mark Prior?? Wheres he now?? Or how about David Clyde?? Wheres he??? Thought so!!!! Im not being a hater either. I hope this kid does really good!!

To say he is the best in the game right now might be a tad bit of a stretch.  I think that title has to go to Halladay at this point in the season.  And yes he has only played the lowly Pirates and Indians, but has anyone else put up numbers like that against the Pirates this year? Not to mention it was his first game in the majors.  Thru 4 against the Indians it looked like it was going to be a repeat performance, but then he had some mound trouble and allowed those 5 walks.  That being said 2H, 1 ER, and 8K's isn't too shabby for 5 and a 1/3.  As a Nats fan I would like to say he could definitely be considered the best at the end of the season, but let's return to this discussion again after Friday, or maybe even the All-Star break.

If you think that Strassburg would go out there and strike out 14 Yanks or Red Sox in 7 innings in his debut you are really kidding yourself.......

I guess      Delwyn Young got him though....

No if you would come up for air every few minutes then maybe you could understand what I am talking about.... The kid has great stuff and all and "MAY" become a stud.... But untill he faces a major league lineup then yall need to get off his nuts....  It is not like he was pitching 3 innings or so in the minors it was like 5 and 2/3's and 6 innings.
