Strasburg Debate...

I have seen all the posts.

Someone says he's the greatest.

Someone responds with 'you're crazy'

Heres how I see it...

A- The guy has control (#1 problem in a young pitcher)

B- The guy has the Fastest 4 Seamer in Baseball.

C- The guy has a top 5 curveball (its really top 3, maybe the best)

D- Neither are his best pitch. His 2 seamer is the best 2 seamer in baseball.

So in reality he has control, he has the best 4 seam, the best 2 seam, and possibly the best curveball in baseball...

He's definetley got the stuff, he's got the control...is it really that far of a stretch to say he's the best in the game right now?

Only thing that could stop this kid is injury.

He's got everything else.

I agree with most of what you said, but he has thrown what, less than 13 innings in the majors against 2 AAAA teams?  Not saying the better teams light him up, but who is to say just yet.

By now Lebron James was going to have at least 2 championships... long road from potential to success.

I just don't see what can possibly stop him. That's what I would like as a response.

Pittsburgh beat Halladay 2 weeks before they faced Strasburg.

They weren't AAA then.

it all means nothing till the league sees him the second and third time around.....end of freakin story....there are alot of guys that were lights out when they started...it doesnt count when guys are seeing u and your release for the first time in person especially when u have great stuff....this kid is talented but only time will tell....and his first time thru the league means nothing....

To clarify, Pittsburgh has scored 201 runs this year, 30th out of all 30 teams in MLB. The Indians have scored 258, 25th overall.  That makes them in terms of run production both in the bottom 6. If you can't see that then I am sorry.

I am not saying the kid isn't outstanding, what I am saying is let's give it some time. He walked 5 batters today against a really pathetic Indians lineup who their #3 hitter played his first major league game on Friday night. 

He could go out and win 15 games this year and have the easy lead on Ks/9, but that does not mean he isn't a Kerry Wood/Mark Prior/Jaret Wright/etc.

And if you look at my first post on here, I agreed he has the top fastball and one of the best curveballs in the game. How the hell do you take that and then say something ignorant like "would you have shut them down"?

The Washington Nationals........ AAA pitchers

1) The kid is special, but if he blows his arm out in his 3rd start in Chicago should he still be guaranteed Cooperstown because of his potential? Let him achieve it for more than 1 week for christ's sake.

2) The Pirates were last .500 when you were conceived. Their team batting average this year is .237. You think that's a major league baseball team?

3) With the Dolan ownership, the Indians will NOT be competitve. You can't trade back to back Cy Young winners for absolutely no pitching in return. You think that's a major league baseball team?
